Honda is a well-known Japanese automobile and motorcycle manufacturer. Since 1959, it has been regarded as the world's largest producer of motorcycles. It is also the eighth largest automobile company in the world and has the second largest automobile production in Japan. The company also owns Acura, its luxury sports vehicle maker.
It registered the third highest auto sales in the country behind Toyota and Mitsubishi in 2013. Data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) revealed that Honda owns 5.3 percent of the current market share with 13,400 units sold last year; enough to place it as the 5th largest auto company in terms of sales.
Honda was founded by Soichiro Honda in 1946 at the end of World War II. The company faced many shortcomings in its first few years before succeeding in manufacturing the model D, Honda’s first motorcycle to go by the name “Dream”. By 1964 it had become the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles, the same year it released its first automobile- the T360 mini pickup truck.

Honda’s engines use Variable Valve Timing Technology, which they called VTEC. Most EX and top-of-the-line variants have this engine. The automaker has also developed vehicles that run on either fossil alternatives or electricity known as hybrids. The Honda Civic GX, for example, runs on natural gas.
Honda has also been involved with robotics and artificial intelligence research since 1986. In 2000, the company introduced the ASIMO robot, the first and only robot that can independently climb and descend stairs.
