2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe Shows Off Sleeker, Sexier Silhouette
Porsche adds a new coupe body style to the Cayenne SUV model line, following in the footsteps of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz and what they did their Q8, X6, GLE-Class, respectively. Possessing a dramatic sloping rear roofline, the new Cayenne Coupe certainly evokes the look of Porsche's top-selling model, the 911. Other highlights include sharper lines, adaptive rear spoiler, rear bucket seats, a redesigned rear section, and choice between a panoramic fixed glass roof and carbon fiber roof.
"The Coupe includes all the technical highlights of the current Cayenne, but has an even more dynamic design and new technical details that position it as more progressive, athletic, and emotional," says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG.
"The significantly more steep roof line that falls away to the rear makes the Cayenne Coupe appear even more dynamic, and positions it as the sportiest-looking model in the segment," says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche.
Naturally, the sloping roofline reduces both rear seat headroom and overall cargo space (623 liters to the Cayenne's 765), so if you need extra space, you might want to opt for the normal Cayenne instead.
The Cayenne Coupe also comes with some updated tech, such as Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), the Sport Chrono Package, and 20-inch wheels. These upgrades come as standard and are part of the starting price of the new model.
Two high-performance engines are on offer. The standard Cayenne Coupe houses the same 3.0-liter single-turbo V6 as the normal Cayenne. Performance numbers are at 335 hp, 420 Nm torque, 243 kph top speed, and a sprint of 5.9 secs from 0-100 kph. On the other hand, the top-spec Cayenne Coupe Turbo features a more powerful 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that delivers 541 hp, 769 Nm, 286 kph top speed, and 3.8 secs from 0-100 kph.
The new Porsche Cayenne Coupe is scheduled for a fall release in US showrooms. Starting MSRP for the Cayenne Coupe is USD75,300 and USD130,100 for the Cayenne Turbo Coupe.
