Brace Yourself for the All-New Mitsubishi SUV 2017
One thing that Mitsubishi has done really well these past few months is to surprise us with what they're doing. From scandals to mergers and soon to be killed-off vehicles, they're now surprising us with yet another groundbreaking news: they're unveiling their newest SUV at the Geneva Motor Show on March 7 this year.
The new Mitsubishi SUV 2017 is first of a new generation of SUVs and 4x4s that Mitsubishi Motors will introduce to the market this year. Its sporty, coupe-like design will line up alongside the all new-gen Outlander and ASX as a way to broaden their range to a new audience.
This vehicle struts like a stocky football player with beefy muscles and bulging veins. There’s nothing shy about it. Don’t buy this car if your idea of a “wild” time is talking to trees in Elven language -- or counting fireflies while singing Josh Groban's songs. Really, we don’t want to make this car mad, do we?
Striking and athletic, the new Mitsubishi SUV 2017 has symmetric, sloping edges that make for an interesting look. Its frame is sleek, sporty, and more coupe-like, and the modern front end looks to be in line with Mitsubishi's design language right to a tee.
The bumper design, however, makes us think a bit. There seems to be so much going on that it lacks fluidity. It's like the bumper was split into three separate components, and then pieced together by different designers after a night of drunken festivity.
But then again, maybe a lot of people will like it.
The rear end, on the other hand, is eye-catching, and shows off some pretty muscular fenders. The taillights are inspired by the XR-PHEV II Concept, with LED light panels bulging out distinctively. We're not much of a fan of the heavy-flare design though -- it reminds us a bit of the soon-to-be departed Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
Rumors say that the new SUV will be named Eclipse, which Mitsubishi had already used in one of its sports cars in the 80's. We expect that it will get an all-wheel drive system, together with a multi-link rear axle. The engine should have 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol unit, along with a 2.2-liter diesel. Mitsubishi has remained tightly guarded with the details, but we're sure to find out more at the Geneva Motor Show this March.
