It’s one of the names that pioneered the crossover revolution, so yes, the Honda CR-V understands a thing or two about Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV). Now that it has evolved into the “ultimate urban SUV”, the CR-V is once again taking itself to a higher level, offering generous space to accommodate more people, longer rides, bigger adventure, and yes--more fun.
The Honda CR-V offers four engine variants, with its Automatic transmissions and All-Wheel-Drive system offering the more torque-powerful DOHC i-DTEC Turbo 4-cylinder, 16 valve (AT/AWD), and its gasoline-powered 4-cylinder, 16-valve (CVT) that gives the faster SOHC i-VTEC engine.
The Honda CR-V has four variants: 2.0 S CVT, V Diesel 9AT, S Diesel 9AT, and SX Diesel 9AT AWD.
All CR-V variants have the same exterior, with the chrome trimmings, similar to each other. The only subtle indicator that the variant's using Honda's proprietary Earth Dreams Technology is the small i-DTEC badge on the tailgate.
One thing that Honda kept in the CR-V's design are its signature high-mounted tail lights. Now with a more striking front fasica, the 2018 Honda CR-V's swooping headlights and hexagonal grill are attention-grabbers, themselves. The shoulder line is more defined as well.
The CR-V offers good ground clearance to help wade through floods easily. Its CVT variant measures 198 mm, while its Diesel All-Wheel Drive (AWD) adds in 10 mm more to its height.
The CR-V has gone a long way from its plastic-ridden interior. You’ll find the overall interior texture is much softer, giving an elegant finish inside. Really, the five (for the 2.0 S CVT) and seven plush seats are a welcome retreat after a hectic work day.
The infotainment system has also become more user-friendly, now incorporating volume knobs to make it easier to adjust the volume.
One notable thing to mention is Honda's Smart Entry with Push-Start System. This allows you unlock your door by touching the door handle. The Push-Start System makes turning on the engine a breeze as well. The good news here is that it's available in all the CR-V's four variants.
It's not called the "ultimate urban SUV" for nothing, adding in more spaces, particularly at the backseat. We like how Honda has been generous with the little yet practical things people need, like adding in cupholders, lots of chargers, and easy to fold seats for more added space.
Its Eco Assist System gives the CR-V better fuel efficiency, helping you save on fuel expenses. All variants offer Eco Coaching Light and Econ Mode, which generally changes how your car's throttle, cruise control, transmission, air conditioner, and cruise control work to decrease fuel consumption.
All the 2018 Honda CR-V variants offers impressive safety features. It offers Agile Handling Assist, Driver Attention Monitor, Airbags, Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) With Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, and Seatbelt Reminder for Drivers and Front Passengers.
Families with children will especially love the Child Safety Lock, Child Seat Anchor, and Emergency Stop Signal.
To make it better, we'd highly recommend its SX Automatic AWD variant. It's the only one that comes with the impressive Honda Sensing Features, which are really worth the added pesos you spend on them.
