C! Drive of the Year - Ferrari F430 Scuderia
It’s all too easy to dismiss the Scuderia as just another lightened limited edition as is common with particularly sought after sports cars. You’ll usually find an absence of anything that soothes the senses. Rather, a more dedicated and uncompromised focus towards the driving experience. There’s little reason to drive it on a more regular basis.
Though named after the division of the company concerned with racing, the Scuderia is all of this and more. Yes, it is lighter (by 100 kilograms), more powerful (508 horsepower), and faster (0-100 kph in less than 3.6 seconds). It also has more technology trickled down from a Formula 1 car. Let’s also not forget about the transmission that is 20 milliseconds faster or the F1-trac traction and stability control with an electronic differential. What truly sets it apart is the fact that the experience comes without sacrificing the comfort and durability of a standard F430 at all. There’s no question about the performance advantage, yet it’s the comfort, durability and peace of mind that this solidly built racing machine imparts which truly sets it above the rest.
