Dad's Day with Porsche

Porsche Philippines, under PGA Cars Inc., has up the ante in celebrating Father’s Day and the brand's 70th anniversary by showcasing its latest offering in the local market, the Porsche Macan Sport.

First displayed locally in the Porsche Festival, the Macan Sport graced the event dubbed as "Sports Car together: 70 years of Porsche" held at Rockwell Power Plant Makati, together with the other Stuttgart-based vehicles such as the 911 Carrera, Panamera, and the 718 Cayman.

The said compact SUV now sports adaptive air suspension with the Porsche Active Suspension Management, which is the technology used in the Panamera Turbo. The Macan Sport sits on 20-inch RS Spyder design rims.

By the numbers, the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, which is mated to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission in the Macan delivers 252 hp and could go as fast as 229 kph with an impressive 6.7 seconds from 0-100 kph. 

With that power and speed, it must be guzzling up fuel, right? Not with the Macan. Depending on the mounted wheel and tire combination, the Macan consumes 13.9 km/l according to the NEDC. 

The said event also proved that cars are not just for the "fast and the furious" but for the "vintage" as well as many are seen taking their time, taking photos, and inquiring about the Porsche offerings as well as the other displays. 

Aside from that, the event also housed vintage models such as the 1988 930 Turbo, the 1997 993 Carrera S (the last batch of the old air-cooled model for the German marque), the 1994 993 Carrera (that only adapted 20 percent of previous generation’s parts) and the iconic 1967 911 S.
