MMDA Starts Clearing Ops for Oplan Undas 2018
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that it has already started its preparation for the All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day holidays on November 1 and 2, respectively.
Under Oplan Undas 2018, the MMDA said that its Task Force Special Operations started to clear road obstructions leading to cemeteries. Subsequently, its Metro Parkway Clearing Group are checking the vicinity of major cemeteries within Metro Manila.
The MMDA also said that the agency will deploy more than 2,000 traffic personnel on critical areas once Oplan Undas 2018 is officially activated on October 27. This is to ensure that traffic flow will remain smooth on major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.
The major cemeteries that MMDA identified are the following: (1) Manila North in Manila City, (2) Manila South in Makati City, (3) Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City, (4) Bagbag Public Cemetery in Quezon City, and (5) Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque City. MMDA's Road Emergency Group will set up tents for Public Assistance Centers at cemeteries and dispatch ambulances to provide necessary medical services.
Moreover, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia added that the agency's big boss, Danilo Lim, has declared a “No Dayoff, No Absent” policy for MMDA traffic personnel from October 27 to November 3. The number-coding scheme is suspended on November 1 and 2, which has been declared as special non-working holidays.
