Multimillion 'Scenic' Diversion Road Project in Lanao del Norte Underway
Region 10 will soon be a housing a new diversion road with "scenic views of the forest" with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undertaking the the construction of the Santa Felomina-Bonbonon-Digkilaan-Rogongon Road in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.
DPWH-Region 10 Director Zenaida Tan was quoted in a press statement that the 60.4-kilometer road project has a budget requirement amounting to P394.76-million on a multi-year program.
The road will serve as a new diversion road in the province that will traverse agricultural lands within mountainous terrains of Iligan City.
So far, the department has completed the concreting of 1.74 kilometers of the diversion road at the Indulang section in the municipality of Talakag, Province of Bukidnon.
"This big-ticket project will serve as a shorter route between Iligan City and Talakag bypassing the usual route which passes through Cagayan de Oro City," Tan said.
Upon completion, the road is eyed to lessen travel time to and from Iligan to Bukidnon from the usual three hours and 30 minutes to one hour and 30 minutes.
"We intend to make this road open even during extreme weather conditions so that mobility will not be affected," Tan assured.
This road section in Iligan City is part of the Mindanao East-West Lateral Road that involves opening and concreting of roads with cross drainage, safety road improvements, and lined canal.
