Lamborghini further adds to its ultra-prestigious brand image after American luxury lifestyle magazine Robb Report named its SUV offering, the Lamborghini Urus, as the MVP SUV in this year’s Best of the Best awards. With the award, Robb Report described the Lamborghini Urus as a "consummate crossover that combines the best elements of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante and Aventador S with its own innovative engineering to deliver one uniquely upscale package."
True to its Lamborghini DNA, the Urus is a luxury SUV that offers the dynamism of a sports car. Beginning with its low-line coupe styling, a 4.0-liter V8 twin turbo engine that delivers 650 hp and 850 Nm max torque, an acceleration time of 0 to 100 kph in a measly 3.6 seconds, and a 305 kph top speed, the Urus is easily the fastest SUV on the market.
"The Lamborghini Urus is a visionary approach based on the infusion of Lamborghini DNA into the most versatile vehicle, the SUV," said Stefano Domenicali, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "The Urus elevates the SUV to a level not previously possible, the Super SUV. It is a true Lamborghini in terms of design, performance, driving dynamics and emotion as well as drivable every day in a range of environments."
"The Urus fits perfectly within the Lamborghini family as a high performance car. It is the culmination of intensive development and passionate skill to create a new breed of bull: a Super SUV that transcends the boundaries of expectations and opens the door to new possibilities, for both our brand and our customers," Domenicali added.
Despite the sports car leanings, a commanding road position, high ground clearance, and versatile off-road capabilities ensure that the Urus is every bit an SUV. And as can be expected from the Lamborghini marque, the Urus is an easy city driver, comfortable during long journeys, equally adept on the road and track, and can be as sporty or elegant as the owner wishes.
"We have taken a mix of the most important features of the Aventador S and the Huracán Performante and merged them with additional technology in order to be able to control weight and the center of gravity," says Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini's chief technical officer. "The result is the perception that the car is much shorter and lighter because it's so agile."
