Maserati to unleash MCXtrema

Maserati announced that it will soon unleash the MCXtrema — previously known as “Project24” — at the upcoming Monterey Car Week.

In about two weeks the Trident brand will officially reveal the very limited track-only automobile that according to the Italian carmaker is “dedicated to the excellence of gentleman drivers and racing cars’ enthusiasts.”

Only 62 samples of the MCXtrema have been produced and all of them are already allocated to their respective owners.

In a previous press release, Maserati revealed specifications of the MCXtrema, which included its powertrain setup. Per the Modena-based car brand, MCXtrema is equipped with a V6 twin-turbo power plant that boasts the Maserati Twin Combustion Twin Spark with TJI double combustion control and a dry sump system.

Mated to a six-speed sequential racing gearbox with paddle shifters, the said setup makes 740 horses.

To ensure stopping power while on the track, the Maserati MCXtrema is fitted with Brembo CCMR ventilated racing brakes with racing calipers and bespoke brake cooling.

The aforementioned details alone clearly personify the concept behind the development of the Maserati MCXtrema. The said idea according to the company was to unleash a true racing beast, something different and disruptive compared with anything that has ever been done before.
