DOTr Partners with World Bank for Road Crash Data Collection System

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has partnered with the World Bank to develop a system for road crash data collection in the country.

Known as the Data for Road Incident Visualization Evaluation and Reporting (DRIVER), the system is "a web application that is designed to view, collect, and analyze road incident data in the Philippines," specifically traffic incidents, disruption, and crimes. The application reportedly provides data viewing and entry tools such as graph and map interfaces, custom report and filter tools, multiple concurrent user editing, and data exports.

DRIVER will supposedly not only facilitate data gathering but will also allow for better allocation of resources as it comes with data visualization tools. As such, its said functions may aid local government units (LGUs) to conduct effective enforcement activities and allow them to allocate resources to areas with high road crash fatality incidents. LGUs may have access and be enrolled in the DRIVER system by getting in touch with the DOTr.
