Autostrada Motore, the authorized distributor of
Ferrari in the Philippines, has finally brought in the
Ferrari GTC4 Lusso--the sole four-seater in the popular Italian carmaker's current lineup--two years after the car was first unveiled at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show.
The GTC4 Lusso's name reportedly references its predecessors, such as the
330 GTC or its 2+2 sister model, the 330 GT --supposedly one of Enzo Ferrari’s favorites--and the
250GT Berlinetta Lusso, "which represented a sublime combination of elegance and high performance." The number
4 alludes to the car's
four comfortable seats, the
GTC stands for
Grand Turismo Coupes, and
Lusso translates to
luxury in Italian.
Unlike other Ferrari models in the lineup, the driving experience of the GTC4 Lusso was designed to be shared, hence the
2+2 cabin layout, so all four occupants are enthralled wherever the grand tourer goes, be it on short drives or cross-country jaunts, twisting mountain roads or urban streets.
The GTC4 Lusso shares the same Ferrari F140 engine as
the recently-launched 812 Superfast, though slightly detuned to produce
690 cv (681 hp) and
697 Nm of torque and sprint from 0-100 kph in
3.4 seconds with a top speed of
335 kph. In addition, according to Ferrari, the GTC4 Lusso's
2.6 kg/hp weight-to-power ratio and its
13.5:1 compression ratio set new records for its category.
With that much power going to all four wheels of the GTC4 Lusso, Ferrari keeps it in check with its new Ferrari-patented
4RM-s (four-wheel drive, four wheel-steering) system that's based on the latest,
fourth-generation Side Slip Control and integrates and controls the 4RM Evo four-wheel drive’s PTU (Power Transfer Unit), the rear wheel steering, E-Diff and SCM-E active damping.
The GTC4 Lusso's design is penned by the Ferrari Design team led by
Flavio Manzoni and is a further refinement of the
shooting brake coupe, reinterpreting the concept with an extremely streamlined, tapered silhouette that underscores its perfect balance of elegance and sportiness while incorporating comfortable rear seats and a roomy boot behind them.
At the front, the new
Dual Cockpit architecture enhances the shared driving experience for both driver and passenger. In fact,
four plush wrap-around seats and the cabin's
meticulously crafted quality materials create the same ambience as a luxurious living space for all occupants. One of the selection criteria for the materials adopted was weight reduction to heighten the sense of sporty luxury typical of a thoroughbred Ferrari. The navigation and infotainment platform, featuring a
10.2-inch HD screen with capacitive touch technology, is also new.
