Floyd Mayweather Jr. Invests in Local TNC U-Hop to Expand Service Overseas
Former professional boxer--and one-time Manny Pacquiao opponent--Floyd Mayweather Jr. through his The Money Team brand will be investing in local transport company U-Hop. Mayweather's investment won't benefit the Philippine market though, and it won't be just the United States as reported by various media outlets.
This was shared by U-Hop Chairman Marvin Dela Cruz to Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) member Atty. Aileen Lizada after she confirmed the news of Mayweather's investment with the company. Apparently unaware of the development when asked by members of the media, Lizada immediately got in touch with Dela Cruz who then confirmed with that U-Hop's partnership with Mayweather was for the company's entry into the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Dela Cruz though didn't share with Lizada the details of the partnership, like how much money the former pro boxer is putting into the company or how big his percentage is in the ride-hailing service.
