Ford Recalls 2017-2018 Ford GT for Hydraulic Fluid Leak

Ford is recalling around 200 units of the 2017-2018 Ford GT due to the possibility of the hydraulic fluid leaking from the the valve block assembly located underneath the rear wing and onto the exhaust which may start a fire. While the recall has so far been unannounced by both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States, Ford initiated a recall after one unit caught fire in Germany in June. Although the GT was supposedly a total loss, no injuries were reported. "Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries as a result of this condition," the American carmaker said in a statement. According to Ford, GT units manufactured between December 20, 2016 and July 31, 2018 are affected by the recall. As a precaution, Ford is asking owners of affected vehicles to bring their cars to their dealer where a software update will be done to the fully-integrated vehicle controller which will eliminate the possibility of excessive pressure in the valve block assembly. In addition, some vehicles will have a rear wing hydraulic check valve installed and will have o-rings and filter replaced, if needed.
