Volvo Cars sales in May up by 31%

Volvo Cars' biggest market is Europe with 26,272 cars sold.According to the Swedish carmaker, it sold a total of 60,398 cars last month. Out of the aforementioned number, the company’s fully electric cars were the main contributor, as Volvo Cars sold a total of 23,967 units — translating to a 196-percent increase compared to the similar timeline in 2022.
When broken down, Volvo Cars said that it sold 26,272 cars in Europe, which revealed an increase of 40 percent compared to last year. Here, Volvo Cars sold 16,481 electric models.
In China, Volvo Cars sold 14,121 vehicles, which brings the brand’s sales up by 49 percent compared to the same month the previous year. Of the said number 1,181 units were of both fully electric and plug-in hybrid models.
Meanwhile, Volvo Cars sold a total of 10,723 vehicles in the United States giving the Gothenburg-headquartered company a 14 percent increase in terms of sales in the region. Here, they sold 3,039 electrified vehicles.
Lastly, Volvo Cars sold some 9,282 units in other markets where the cumulative sales of electrified units totaled 3,266.
In May, the Volvo XC60 was the top-selling model with sales of 18,052 cars, followed by the XC40, with total sales of 17,596 cars, and the XC90 at 9,058 cars.
