Volvo Cars to improve Apple CarPlay experience with latest OTA update
Volvo Cars announced that its latest over-the-air (OTA) update will improve the experience of Apple Carplay users in the United States (US).

Per Volvo Cars, the new OTA upgrade will bring other features such as the ability to display call information in the instrument cluster and the CarPlay tile in the infotainment system’s ability to feature media information.According to the Swedish automotive brand, the most notable improvement to be brought by its latest OTA update is that Apple Maps — and other supported navigation apps — will become available in the driver display, just behind the steering wheel.
In the same driver display, call information will also be displayed after the OTA update. Additionally, the Carplay tile in the center display will feature media information.
“When our customers get in their Volvo car, we want it to be a better experience than the day before — our over-the-air updates are a cornerstone in this ambition. The latest update on CarPlay features is an excellent example of how we continuously improve and add features and functions together with our technology partners, making our customers’ experience richer over time,” said Volvo Cars Software Engineering Head Alwin Bakkenes.
This update also brings a range of changes that improve the experience for all drivers. After the rollout, Volvo car owners can switch between driver support functions using the steering wheel buttons and choose whether the wing mirrors should fold or not when locking the car. Other changes include some minor engine calibration optimizations and bug fixes.
The schedule of the OTA update in the US was not disclosed.
