VW shows off its finest collection at MIAS

The recently concluded 2015 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) in the World Trade Center in Pasay City is one of the most-anticipated auto show of the year in the country. From brand new cars to hybrids, to concept car launches, MIAS is indeed the biggest one-stop car exposition that gathers the biggest automotive brands under one roof. And one of brands that shines above the rest is the fine collection of Volkswagen vehicles.

The VW Golf GTI

The multi-award winning VW Golf GTI—in Tornado Red—was the main highlight of the exhibit area. It is the ultimate sportsman within the VW sports car family. It combines technological leadership and uncompromised performance making it a sustainable sports car. The GTI is the sports car with true “style and performance” powered by a 2.0 turbocharged stratified injection engine with maximum output of 220 Ps at 4,500-6,200 rpm and a maximum torque of 350 Nm at 1,500-4,400 rpm. Mated with a 6-speed dual shift gear transmission and sports-tuned suspension, this car is the definitive hot hatch.

The VW Polo Hatchback

Dominating the Word Rally Championship for two consecutive years, the Polo Hatchback is now available for young professionals and car lovers who value superior build quality and driving pleasure.

Engine-wise, the car is equipped with a Euro 4 compliant 1.6-liter, multi-point injection gasoline engine that generates 105 Ps (maximum torque of 153Nm) and is mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is fitted with an anti-lock braking system, anti-theft with immobilizer and interior monitoring system, crash-safe body design, front and rear seatbelts, SRS dual front airbags and park distance control. Now on its fifth-generation, the Polo was first launched in 1975 and has become one of the most successful and enduring models of Volkswagen.

The VW Touareg Sport Edition

The Volkswagen Touareg serves as the flagship vehicle of VW Philippines that represents the high caliber of German craftsmanship and design. Powered by a Euro 4-compliant, 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder, in-line turbocharged direct injection diesel engine, the Touareg delivers 245 Ps and a hefty 550 Nm of torque. This eight-speed automatic also boasts a permanent 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system making this SUV not only a luxurious family ride but also a capable off-roader.

It sports a four-bar grille and a front underride guard for the lower fascia, Bi-Xenon headlamps with cornering light with LED daytime running lights that add a flourish to the front end. At the back, the Touareg sports large, upright tailgate features, LED lights that wrap around the rear quarters and a rear underride guard. Complementing the sides are 20-inch “Mallory” alloy wheels.

Accessorized VW Beetle

Owning a Beetle is owning one of the greatest icons of the automotive world. The accessorized Beetle in white is powered by a twin-charged 1.4 TSI gasoline engine that generates 160 Ps and 240Nm of torque. It comes standard with a seven-speed DSG transmission.

The Beetle’s lines are clearly attractive: Simple, straightforward, with a classic quality that hints at a future timelessness. While there's a clear stylistic nod to the past, it now offers greater space and more modern underpinnings and features. This is further highlighted by the accessories installed: body stripes, a front spoiler and rear diffuser, 19” Tornado alloy wheels and tail pipe finisher to name a few.

Accessorized VW Tiguan

The Tiguan is a unique combination of sportiness and comfort—a sports car in an SUV body. This 6-speed automatic is powered by a Euro 4-compliant 2.0-liter turbocharged direct injection diesel engine that not only delivers 140 Ps, but also 320Nm of towing capacity.

Being the Touareg’s baby brother meant that the smaller Tiguan has adopted the overall shape of the midsize crossover. As a result, this four wheel drive SUV also sports a sharp look as well as a tiger-like stance thanks to the black accents on the grill and headlights as well as the optional 19-inch “Savannah” alloy wheels on the accessorized model. The rear gets mono-red tail lamps with bright LED-lit character lines that are truly spectacular at night. Other added options are the wheel arch extensions at the sides and the tail pipe finisher at the rear.

Accessorized VW Touran

The seven-seater Touran quickly rose to prominence when it was chosen as one of the official rides of Pope Francis during his 5-day visit to the Philippines early this year.

The Touran is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged direct injection diesel engine that delivers 110 Ps and a hefty 320 Nm of torque on its optional 18-inch “Karthoum” alloy wheels.
