Used Honda motorcycles
Honda is the Philippines’ number one motorcycle brand based on its current 47 percent market share. Its popularity in the country is due to the production of quality and affordable motorcycles. In the market, it has a 26 percent lead over nearest rival Kawasaki.
This Japanese motorcycle maker has been a global leader in motorcycle production since 1964. The Honda Super Cab was the company's breakthrough unit which established its popularity. In 2008, Honda had produced 60 million units of this motorized vehicle since its inception in 1958.
Popularity of second hand Honda models
The industry of second hand motorcycles in the country is stronger than ever. In recent years, motorcycles have dethroned the jeepney as the “king of the road” because of the sheer volume being purchased. In 2011, some 3.2 million motorcycle units were categorized as “registered vehicles”, and of these, more than 1.5 million units were from Honda.
The motorcycle brand’s full range of motorcycles- cubs, sports, scooters and business-type motorcycles- allows the company to reach a multitude of customers. The 150cc Honda TMX Supremo, for example, is often converted as a passenger tricycle.
Why choose Honda?
On average, the prices of Honda motorcycle models are P10,000 to P20,000 more expensive than some of its Japanese counterparts. However, this is compensated by the technological advancements Honda puts in most of its models. While some brands focus on the engine’s power or displacement, Honda is focused on personal taste.
Much like the cars Honda manufactures, the motorcycles they produce also include additional features, such as an advanced lighting and brake system. Some motorcycle units with automatic transmission are now equipped with an auto brake system (ABS), airbags, and high-end models can even have Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
Generally speaking, they have a higher resale value when compared to other brands. A used Honda Wave motorcycle, for instance, can be sold retaining 70 percent of its original value. The exact price, however, would still depend on its mileage, general condition and its payment options.
Repairs and maintenance
Another plus for the Japanese brand is its readily available service warranty and the high number of spare parts for maintaining or repairing the motorcycle.
