Aion ES Overview
The Aion ES is a mid-sized four-door sedan and is one of Aion’s, a sub-brand of GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group Corporation) Motor Philippines, fully-electric vehicles. In 2024, it was officially introduced alongside the Aion Y Plus in the Philippine market. It is a rebranded version of the Aion S Plus, an export model. It is an entry-level EV that offers a smooth driving experience on busy and rough roads. Currently, it is priced ₱1.358 million and is available in four colours: Pure White, Glamour Black, Ultrafast Silver, and Holographic Silver.

Aion ES Interior
Unlike its rival counterparts which have either a colorful or futuristic interior, the Aion ES is leaning more towards a laidback or minimalistic approach, sporting an all-black cabin. Its spacious leg room makes up for the model’s lack of internal vibe or flavor. Although the interior of the Aion ES predominantly consists of hard plastic, its clean leather upholstery blends well with these parts, giving the car an elegant look inside.
In the front, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which offers both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is placed at the middle of the dashboard below a traditional-looking LCD instrument panel. The car is equipped with a center console that has cup holders, giving both the driver and passenger extra compartments to secure their belongings. An engine start/stop button is located at the center console. Additionally, it also has a power steering wheel that allows for a more comfortable driving experience.
At the rear, there is also an arm rest at the center, a foldable seat and table, a headrest, and a reading lamp for those who love to read while on a trip. All-around, the car has adjustable seats, power windows, USB ports, and an automatic climate control feature to ensure that all passengers are relaxed.

Aion ES Exterior
From the outside, the Aion ES sports a pair of adjustable flowing arc-shaped LED headlights with L-shaped DRLs on the sides. Below its smooth front fascia are functional grilles that give the model a sporty and premium look. On the sides, its sleek curves enhance the ES’ modern design and blend well with its radial tyres, which cover a set of 17-inch alloy wheels. The model is also equipped with a hidden integrated antenna, along with C-shaped LED tail lights and a rear view mirror turn indicator at the back. In terms of size, the ES is 4,810 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,545 mm in height. It also has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm and a ground clearance of 120 mm.
-
Aion ES Ride & Handling
In terms of suspension combination, the Aion ES is equipped with a MacPherson independent suspension at the front, while a torsion beam non-independent suspension at the rear. This combination allows for good handling, stability, and durability while driving. Hence, the driver can comfortably maneuver the ES even on rough urban roads.
-
Aion ES Engine & Fuel Consumption
Similar to other EVs, a lithium-ion battery powers the Aion ES and is paired with a single-speed transmission. It runs on a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that generates a maximum power output of 134 PS and a maximum torque output of 225 Nm. Overall, the ES is equipped with a 55.2kWh battery capacity that has a 442 km driving range, which is a bit lower compared to other rival models.
-
Aion ES Braking & Safety
In terms of safety, the Aion ES is equipped with an Anti-Lock Braking system and other safety features such as EBD, child safety locks, driver, passenger, and side airbags, door ajar, seatbelt, and engine check warnings, crash and parking sensors, front and side impact beams, day and night rear view mirror, and a rear camera.
However, it is important to take note that the ES lacks advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as lane assist and adaptive cruise control, among others that other fully-electric sedans from competitors have.
-
Aion ES Verdict
Although the Aion ES lacks in components that other fully-electric sedans have, such as a futuristic and lively interior and modern ADAS, it is still a practical choice since it is being offered at a reasonable price as compared to many current EVs within the Philippine market. It is built for daily use and can provide a comfortable driving experience.
