Ferrari Roma

Designed by the team of Flavio Manzoni, the Ferrari Roma looks stunning and perfectly blends in the low slung stance of a supercar with a stretched grand tourer. The curvaceous design instantly makes it look beautiful and well-planted, and there is an essence of timelessness in it that makes it very much desirable.

The front profile of the Ferrari Roma has a sloping bonnet, which has flowing haunches on its sides and a vertical hump in the middle of it. There are wide and unique looking LED headlamp clusters just where the side haunches finish up at the front, in the middle of which there are sleek LED daytime running light strips. The cheese-grater like body-coloured front grille might take some time to get used to, but it also blends well with the overall design. Like all the Ferraris, the Roma also has a wide front splitter below the front bumper.

The Ferrari Roma looks stunning from the side too, with the smooth flowing curves of the front bonnet flowing all the way back to the rear. Above the rear wheel arches, the Roma gets flowing haunches which add some muscle to the overall design. In a true Ferrari fashion, the Roma also gets big five-spoke alloy wheels, with contrast-coloured brake callipers behind them.

At the back, the Ferrari Roma looks cool with the slot-like design of the slim LED tail lamps and the integrated spoiler in the middle of them. This overall setup makes the Roma look very sleek when viewed from the rear. The rear splitter looks huge and wide and integrates dual exhaust ports on either end.

The all-aluminium chassis and low centre of gravity are only a couple of traits, which the Roma shares with other Ferraris on sale. The slightly softer suspension and other setups like higher-profile tyres and higher ground clearance as compared to other Ferraris give it the GT credentials for which it has been designed. However, the suspension still feels stiff, but the Roma is a delight to drive on both fast stretches and corners, which again is assisted very well with the precisely weighted steering wheel.

The Ferrari Roma has a 3.9-litre 90-degree V8 turbocharged petrol engine under its hood, which produces a peak power output of 620 bhp and a peak torque output of 760 Nm. Matching the fantastic performance from the engine are super slick shifts from the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. There are five different drive modes on offer, including “Race” modes which allow you to use the full sporty potential of the car. The car can hit a ton from a standstill in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 320 kmph.

The Ferrari Roma gets limited safety equipment like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, side slip control 6.0, electronic differential control (E-Diff), F1-Trac adjustable traction control and Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer.

The Ferrari Roma is a fine balance, for it provides a part of the practicality of an everyday car and the thrills of a supercar in a single package.
