Ferrari SF90 Stradale

Ferrari has stepped into the next generation with the cabin of the SF90 Stradale. The cabin looks minimal but is extremely futuristic with the introduction of capacitive touch controls and TFT screens in it.

Let’s start with the driver’s cockpit first. The Ferrari SF90 Stradale comes with a new-generation multi-functional steering wheel which features a touchpad housing a range of haptic buttons for controlling numerous functions of the car just from your fingertips. Behind the steering wheel, you do get a driver-centric dashboard, the biggest highlight of which is the 16-inch curved HD TFT instrument console.

There are additional capacitive touchpads on either side of the steering wheel on the dashboard, which represent multiple consoles like those for headlamps and tail lamps, instrument console display screens, and automatic climate control. The centre console of the car looks minimalist with a panel for climate control, a secondary display for the co-passenger, and sleek AC vents. Slim-looking transmission tunnel houses a single cup holder, toggle-like transmission lever, and power window switches.

Every Ferrari produced to date has been a gorgeous piece of artwork, and the same goes in the case of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale as well. The first plug-in hybrid supercar from Ferrari carries forward the legacy of Ferraris as a smooth and beautiful-looking, low-slung supercar.

At the front, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale looks super sleek with its long front bonnet, which accommodates a huge V-shaped hollow within it for aerodynamics and ends up with C-shaped headlamps on either side. The upper half of these headlamps get full-LED treatment, while the lower halves are just cavities for air dissipation. The same is done by the massive air dam spread across the width of the front bonnet, which is partitioned into three parts and gets a carbon fiber diffuser below it.

As expected, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale looks dramatic when viewed from the side, with smoothly flowing haunches above both front and rear fenders. Like in a traditional range-topping Ferrari, the SF90 Stradale also gets a gorgeous set of five-spoke machined alloy wheels, door-mounted long rearview mirrors, an air dam behind the door panels with carbon fiber surrounds, and a curved roofline which is finished in a theme of black.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale looks drop-dead gorgeous from the rear, which is possibly the best angle to look at it. The supercar gets a quad-LED tail lamp setup, with two rounded squares on either side representing the main tail lamps. There is a sleek-looking piano black strip running between the tail lamps, which gets the prancing horse logo in the middle. The rear windscreen is split into two halves with a panel flowing through the middle of it and hides the massive powertrain beneath it. The high-mounted rounded dual exhaust ports, carbon-fiber rear spoiler, and massive rear diffuser with splitters make it look extremely racy.

Blessed with four drive modes and multiple settings for the suspension and electronics, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale feels a dream to drive on the tracks. Like every range-topping Ferrari, this is a bit outrageous to drive on regular streets, due to its harsh suspension setup and extremely low ground clearance. However, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is a treat to drive on smoothly stretched tarmac and around corners with its fantastically tuned chassis.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is the first-ever Ferrari to get a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which is a combination of a 4.0-litre 90-degree twin-turbocharged V8 engine and three different electric motors – one on the rear axle and two on the front axles. The power output from the engine is rated at 780 bhp, while an additional power output of 220 bhp is generated from the motors. In total, the SF90 Stradale makes 1000 bhp of power output and 800 Nm of torque. The 7.9 kWh lithium-ion battery of the supercar gives an electric-only range of 25 km.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale gets a decent amount of safety features on offer like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic differential control (E-Diff), side slip control 6.0, Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, and F1-Trac adjustable traction control.

With the SF90 Stradale, Ferrari has once again benchmarked its supremacy in making supercars with the latest generation technology. Even with a downsized engine for a flagship offering, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale feels extremely powerful and requires skilled hands to control it.
