JAC JS6

Upon entering the JAC JS6, you are greeted by an abundance of soft-touch materials and trims that look very premium for its price. The first row is a very pleasant place to be in with all of its space. The second row has enough legroom for three passengers. However, its headroom is a bit low for taller passengers. But, on the plus side, you get a generous 670-L minimum trunk space at the back. For an aesthetic vibe inside the cabin, it comes with an ambient lighting system and a panoramic sunroof.

Meanwhile, drivers are given a high-tech cockpit that consists of a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument display with a dimmer switch and a multifunctional steering wheel wrapped in leather. A 12.3-inch floating central touchscreen infotainment display is connected to the driver’s instrument panel. This is equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth Handsfree, MP5 player, AM/FM radio, and is linked to an 8-speaker sound system. 

The majority of the car’s interior features are touch-controlled via the infotainment display, which might be a bit of an inconvenience for other drivers who are used to physical knobs and switches. This car also comes with a wireless mobile charger and front and rear USB ports for more convenience and functionality. 

For starters, the JAC JS6 measures 4,605 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,700 mm in height. This SUV has a 2,720-mm wheelbase and a 160-mm minimum ground clearance.

Upfront, the JAC JS6 flaunts a hypermodern facade, which gives off a high-tech robotic look on the road. It features a sleek daytime running light bar and a pair of rectangular headlights underneath with automatic and follow me home functions. Black grilles with a triangular pattern add more detail to its front end, giving it a hint of ruggedness. 

On the sides, it has a sporty silhouette accentuated by smooth character lines, blacked-out finishes, and 18-inch wheels with aluminum tires. It comes with electrically-adjustable and auto-folding door mirrors. Similar to its front end, it also features a futuristic-looking hindlook illuminated by a rear light bar along with fog lamps for increased visibility, especially at night. For easier loading and unloading of cargo, it also has an electric tailgate. 

The JAC JS6 utilizes a MacPherson independent suspension at the front, while a Multi-Link independent-type at the rear. Thanks to this setup, you and all your passengers can enjoy a stable and relaxed riding experience inside this vehicle. This SUV’s steering has just the right amount of softness and firmness both in the city and on the highway. It absorbs bumps and uneven concrete pavements quite well. Ultimately, the JS6 is just an enjoyment to drive regardless if you are a novice or an experienced driver.

The JAC JS6 is powered by the brand’s 1.5T GDI engine that produces a maximum power output of 182 hp and a maximum torque of 300 Nm. This SUV’s motor is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission system. 

That said, this SUV is surprisingly peppy off the line. You’ll be able to overtake slower vehicles with this car on free-flowing highways. Admittedly, its dual-clutch transmission can get a bit jerky or hesitant at times, but it smoothens out quite quickly when going up the rev range. In addition, this car also offers great fuel efficiency, making it a feasible driver for your daily commute in the city. Overall, the JS6 is a capable and efficient runner both within the Metro and out on the open road.

In terms of safety, the JAC JS6 comes with five advanced driver assistance systems, namely, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, front collision warning, an intelligent remote light switch, and an automatic emergency brake system. It is also equipped with cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, an overspeed alarm, and a 360-degree panoramic camera among others.

Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability program, hydraulic brake assist, hill-start assist control, and a brake override system. In terms of braking, it utilizes front and rear disc brakes.

In my opinion, the JAC JS6 is currently among the locally-available gasoline-powered crossover SUVs that deliver the most value for money. It is equipped with technology and advanced safety features that you’d usually only see in more expensive models. And, on top of this, it possesses impressive capability on the road.
