Inside, the JMC JMEV EV2’s cabin looks bright and youthful as its exterior design. The front row has enough room for the driver and the co-pilot. In contrast, its second row is cramped-up for taller and larger passengers. Its trunk capacity is also very limited for family use, but it is sufficient enough for your solo items. Its grey and black fabric seats with turquoise accents offer decent cushioning and ergonomics for its price point.

Meanwhile, the driver gets a dot matrix (full-digital) instrument display, an electronic power steering wheel wrapped in urethane, and a modern dial type gear selector. For a more balanced approach, you get physical knobs and buttons for your car’s interior features underneath the infotainment display.

All passengers can enjoy a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, which offers smartphone mirroring, Bluetooth connectivity with hands-free audio and call controls, as well as USB input. This infotainment is connected to a 2-speaker sound system. For added convenience, this EV also comes with three front cup holders, two rear cup holders, one USB Type-A charging port, and a 12V power socket. For its price point, it also gets a keyless entry system, speed-sensing door locks, and front and rear power windows.

From the outside, the JMC JMEV EV2’s cute hatchback design radiates a very youthful energy whenever it passes by. Its cute facade is illuminated by projector-type halogen headlamps. A blacked-out bumper, which follows a sharp wave-like motif, adds a touch of sportiness to its overall appearance. 

On the sides, this EV comes with LED turn lamps, which make this car look really premium for its price point. Its cute, sporty design is also very evident at the rear. It features a two-toned back end, accentuated by a blacked-out hatch or trunk door. This EV’s rear is illuminated by polygonal halogen taillamps, as well as halogen fog lamps and an LED high-mount brake lamp for increased visibility and safety at all times.

The JMC JMEV EV2 measures 3,500 mm in length, 1,646 mm in width, and 1,460 mm in height. It has a 2,340-mm wheelbase and a 110-mm ground clearance. This EV hatchback runs on a sporty-looking set of 14-inch aluminum alloy wheels.

In terms of suspension, the JMC JMEV EV2 utilizes a combination of a MacPherson independent type at the front and a Trailing Arm at the rear. This EV hatchback is very nimble to maneuver through bumper-to-bumper traffic and tight parking slots. For an entry-level vehicle, it also handles quite well. It might not offer the most supple cruising experience in its class, but it can still deliver a satisfying and very stable ride for everyone on board.

The JMC JMEV EV2 runs on a single permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces a motor power of 35 PS and a motor torque of 84 Nm. Its motor is tied with a 15.9 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery pack that delivers a CLTC driving range of 201 km. Sadly, this EV doesn’t have a DC fast charging port. This EV utilizes a front-wheel drivetrain and is equipped with two drive modes: Eco and Normal.

In the city, its electric powertrain is peppy and has more than enough to get you from point A to point B efficiently and on time. It is also capable of running on free-flowing highways. However, it wouldn’t be advisable to overtake slower vehicles with this hatchback due to its limited power. It would also be better and safer to plan meticulously before bringing this EV on your out-of-town trip with friends or family. 

The JMC JMEV EV2 is equipped with a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, a tire pressure monitoring system, a vehicle immobilizer with an anti-theft system, a driver’s airbag, as well as multiple seatbelts. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, hill start assist, and hydraulic brake assist. This EV utilizes ventilated discs for front braking, while drums for the rear.

The JMC JMEV EV2 would really make a great first car for budget-oriented consumers, novice drivers, and young adults. It is well-built and engineered for daily city driving. And, on top of this, it is a very reliable and cost-efficient companion for solo travellers.
