Mazda 6 Wagon

Another area where the Mazda 6 Wagon deserves a heap of praises is how well its interior cabin has been laid out. The overall theme of the interior cabin resorts to minimalism, but all in all, it looks very classy. The dual-tone black and dark brown theme, wrapped in rich leather, makes things even classier.

The only dull area with respect to the overall ambiance of the cabin is its driver’s cockpit, which looks too simple with the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel along with very simple looking analog dials. However, the rest of the dashboard looks very inviting with super sleek AC vents, the fine console of automatic climate control buttons, and a free mounted touchscreen infotainment system. 

The Mazda 6-Wagon impresses one even more with its clever space management as well as an extensive list of comfort and convenience features, the list of which includes a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, push-button start with keyless entry, 11-speaker BOSE audio system, and more.

The Mazda 6 Wagon was one of the first station wagons on this planet to break the common notion attached to the station wagons – of being boring and no-nonsense looking vehicles. The low slung stance of the 6-Wagon is well complemented by the smooth curvy lines flowing all the way from the headlamp and over the front fenders as well as above the rear fenders too. The large alloy wheels as well as roof rails do give it a traditional station wagon stance, and so do the large side windows.

At the back, the Mazda 6 Wagon is a completely different affair as compared to the sedan counterpart. The large and curvaceous tail lamps have been shared with the 6 Sedan, but the rest of the boot design looks sleeker, with a larger rear windscreen.

The low slung stance, along with large 19-inch alloy wheels as well as slightly stiff suspension setup – Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, make up for a fantastic driving experience. However, given that it is a long station wagon, the Mazda 6-Wagon does suffer from a slight body roll, especially while cornering at high speeds.

The only engine and gearbox combination which finds a place under the hood of the Mazda 6-Wagon is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a 6-speed torque converter. The engine pumps out a maximum power output of 190 PS, while the maximum torque output is rated at 252 Nm.

The list of safety features associated to the Mazda 6 Wagon is quite extensive too, with the station wagon getting front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, dynamic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist.

With such a cocooned experience on the inside and sleek exterior design, the Mazda 6-Wagon manages to break the monotony commonly surrounding the category of station wagons. The mechanical setup might not too new-generation things, but when it comes to pampering you with the latest features and interior layout, the Mazda 6-Wagon manages to do it perfectly.
