BMW CE 04

The BMW CE 04 has that expensive futuristic look that is definitely different from the appearances of gasoline-powered maxi-scooters. Its fairings feature a clean two-toned look enhanced by sporty-looking decals and the iconic BMW badge on both sides. It has a distinct glare courtesy of its LED lighting ring. Meanwhile, at the back, it has a small pair of turn indicators. It is given an integrated side stand for easier riding. And, if you are looking for something that makes it a bit practical, it comes with a ventilated storage compartment that provides decent space for your belongings and has a USB-C port. It also comes with a side loading storage compartment with lighting as well as standard charging cable for domestic sockets.

In terms of comfort, its saddle is not the most plush in its segment. It provides decent cushioning for short trips but can feel a bit tough and awkward when it comes to longer riding. However, at the end of the day, we have to consider that this scooter is engineered more for short leisure trips than your typical long-distance commute. Aside from these, the riders are given a high-tech 10.25-inch TFT display that has BMW Motorrad Connectivity.

In terms of dimensions, the BMW CE 04 measures 2,285 mm in length, 855 mm in width (over mirrors), and 1,150 mm in height (above windshield). It has a 1,675 mm wheelbase and runs on a futuristic-looking pair of 15-inch cast aluminum disc wheels.

In terms of suspension, the BMW CE 04 utilizes single-bridge telescopic forks at the front, while a single-sided swinging arm with a directly pivoted shock absorber at the rear. Thanks to this suspension setup, riders will be able to enjoy this scooter’s top-notch handling. You’ll have no problem hitting turns and passing through winding city roads with this maxi-scooter. It also has decent dynamics courtesy of its three standard riding modes: Eco, Rain, and Road. 

However, given its significant weight of 410 kg, its suspension setup does little to conceal its heaviness when maneuvering through traffic inside the city. But, overall, the CE 04 can deliver a smooth and relaxing riding experience for your leisure and short-distance trips. 

The BMW CE 04 runs on a permanent magnet liquid-cooled synchronous motor that is powered by an 8.5 kWh (net) battery pack. Its electric powertrain produces a maximum power output of 42 hp and a maximum torque of 62 Nm. Its battery has a WMTC range of 130 km. It has a fast charging time of 0% to 80% in just 65 minutes. Additionally, it runs on a single-speed automatic transmission system.

For a maxi-scooter, the CE 04 is lightning quick, going from 0 to 50 kmph in just 2.6 seconds. It has a nice strong pull for spirited riders. Hence, it is a breeze to ride this scooter inside the Metro. Its range is also just enough to travel within the city. Given that it is all-electric, this scooter can be used daily in areas where there are charging stations. 

The BMW CE 04 is equipped with a BMW Motorrad anti-lock braking system and an automatic stability control. It also comes with an electronic reverser, which assists the rider when maneuvering through narrow streets and tight parking spaces. Its braking setup consists of 265 mm double disc brakes with a 4-piston fixed caliper at the front and a 265 mm single disc brake with 1-piston floating caliper at the rear.

Honestly, the BMW CE 04 is very niche-based. Hence, it won’t be appealing to everyone. But, for elite consumers, the CE 04 represents the future of maxi-scooters in the country. It offers a sustainable yet very enjoyable cruising experience, masterfully breaking the stigma that riding electronic-powered automobiles are boring and lackluster.
