BMW F900 GS Overview
The BMW F 900 GS represents the German brand’s world-class standard of versatility on the road, blending impeccable off-road prowess with top-notch touring comfort. This model line is engineered to make off-roading and long-distance touring more enjoyable and simpler for local consumers. The BMW F 900 GS comes in two middleweight enduro versions: Standard, which is priced at ₱1.135 million, and Adventure, which is priced at ₱1.295 million. The former is more off-road-focused, while the latter is more touring-oriented. Both versions are available in a Blackstorm Metallic paint and exclusive multi-coloured paint, while the Standard version also comes with a Passion (yellow) colorway.

BMW F900 GS Design
Upfront, both versions of the BMW F 900 GS feature a rugged, sporty look. Both versions come with an imposing flare courtesy of an LED headlight assembly with a DRL, which delivers top-notch illumination and visibility on the road. Both versions get LED flashing turn indicators. The Adventure version also gets a touring windscreen with an adjustment mechanism, which ensures that the rider isn’t disrupted by strong winds when cruising at high speeds on the highway.
Riders of both versions get a 6.5-inch TFT colour display, which is equipped with BMW Motorrad Connectivity, heated grips, hand protectors, a USB charging point, as well as a 12V power socket. In terms of comfort, both versions get well-padded saddles, which provide the rider with great ergonomics both on and off-road. However, the Adventure version’s passenger saddle is slightly thicker than the standard model’s, resulting in better pillion comfort–especially during long-distance travel. At the back, the Adventure version also gets a built-in stainless-steel luggage carrier.
Aside from these, the Adventure version features an aluminum engine guard, while the Standard gets the regular counterpart. The F 900 GS Standard also flaunts an Akrapovič sport rear silencer for a more rugged vibe overall. Both versions run on cross-spoke wheels (front: 21-inch, rear: 17-inch).
In terms of dimensions, the Standard version measures 2,270 mm in length, 943 mm in width, 1,393 mm in overall height, 870 mm in seat height, and 1,590 mm in wheelbase. On the other hand, the Adventure version measures 2,300 mm in length, 939 mm in width, 1,437 mm in overall height, 875 mm in seat height, and 1,585 mm in wheelbase.

BMW F900 GS Ride & Handling
In terms of suspension, both versions of the BMW F 900 GS utilize an Upside-Down Gabel (i.e., USD Fork) at the front and a Cast Aluminum Dual Swing Arm at the rear. The Standard version provides a more aggressive riding stance that is well-suited for off-road riding. In contrast, the Adventure variant offers a more upright posture, which is better for long highway rides. Both the Standard and Adventure versions are light and nimble to maneuver despite their weight and overall build. The F 900 GS model line also handles sharp turns or corners with ease and precision.
-
BMW F900 GS Engine & Fuel Consumption
The BMW F 900 GS model line is powered by an 895-cc, water-cooled, 2-cylinder, four-stroke engine that produces a maximum power output of 77 kW (105 hp) and a maximum torque of 93 Nm. Both versions run on a 6-speed claw-shifted (manual transmission) gearbox.
The F 900 GS’ engine offers an enjoyable amount of power and torque on tap, regardless if you are braving the steep off-road trails in rural areas or cruising at high speeds on the expressway. It is smooth, punchy, and has a responsive transmission. Additionally, it also delivers impressive fuel economy, even during heavy off-roading or long-distance touring.
-
BMW F900 GS Braking & Safety
Both versions of the BMW F 900 GS are equipped with BMW Motorrad’s anti-lock braking system and two standard riding modes: Rain and Road. The Standard version also gets a Dynamic Traction Control feature. In terms of braking, this model line comes with twin disc brakes with a 2-piston floating caliper at the front, while a single disc brake with a single-piston floating caliper at the rear.
-
BMW F900 GS Verdict
In my opinion, both versions of the BMW F 900 GS are arguably among the most well-rounded in their respective segments. If you are looking for a bike with some serious off-roading capabilities, then the Standard version has the upper hand among the two. However, if you want a bike that is comfortable to bring on long out-of-town trips, then the Adventure version would be the better choice for you.
