Indian 101 Scout

Style-wise, the Indian 101 Scout blends modern elements with iconic design cues reminiscent of Scouts from the past. This cruiser features Indian’s signature ‘Quarter’ front fairing and an imposing round LED headlamp assembly with turn signals, which adds a classic touch to its facade. 

It flaunts a sporty-looking side profile, accentuated by matte black finishes on its engine and 2-into-1 exhaust system. This cruiser runs on a pair of 5-spoke cast wheels (19-inch at the front, 16-inch at the rear) wrapped in Metzeler Cruisetec tyres, which complement its high-performance character on the road. Its classy 101-exclusive badging also adds more depth to its overall silhouette. Meanwhile, its back end is illuminated by a rectangular LED tail lamp with round indicator signals.

Upfront, the rider has access to a 4-inch RIDE COMMAND touchscreen display with GPS navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and ride stats among others. The RIDE COMMAND screen also displays the speedometer, tachometer, odometer, fuel gauge, gear indicator, ambient temperature, and a compass.  

Aside from this, this cruiser also comes with a Bluetooth speaker for your tunes and a USB charging port for your phone. In addition, the rider gets a leather solo seat with a 101 stitching, which offers great cushioning and ergonomics even on long rides. For an added premium and modern feel, this cruiser is also equipped with a keyless ignition system.

In terms of suspension, the Indian 101 Scout is equipped with a 120-mm Inverted Telescopic Cartridge Fork at the front and 76-mm Dual Piggyback Shocks at the rear. While this might not be a sportbike, it handles turns or curves quite well. It feels light and is nimble to maneuver for its size. However, it wouldn’t be advisable to ride this cruiser on rough and bumpy city roads considering its low ground clearance (113-mm). Overall, the 101 Scout can still deliver a supple and very enjoyable riding experience on the highway and on smooth, paved Metro Manila roads.

The Indian 101 Scout is powered by a 1,250-cc, liquid-cooled V-Twin (60 degrees) engine that delivers a maximum power output of 111 hp (82 kW) and a maximum torque of 109 Nm. This cruiser’s motor is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. It is also equipped with three selectable ride modes: Standard, Sport, and Rain.

That said, the Indian 101 Scout runs with immense enthusiasm off the line. Its engine offers a smooth, punchy power delivery, allowing you to effortlessly overtake slower vehicles and bikes on free-flowing highways. It feels refined and sensible at lower speeds. But, once you go up the rev range, it certainly does not hesitate to show its true character. Given its limited 13-L fuel capacity, this cruiser is better suited for weekend cruises and personal leisure trips than for full-on city commutes.

The Indian 101 Scout is equipped with an anti-lock braking system, cruise control, as well as traction control. Buyers may also opt to get the RIDE COMMAND+, which is equipped with a bike locator and a bike health feature. In terms of braking, this cruiser comes with dual semi-floating rotors with a 4-piston caliper at the front and a single semi-floating rotor with a single-piston caliper at the rear.
