Kawasaki Dominar 400 Review
Kawasaki Dominar 400 Overview
Coming all the way from India, the Dominar 400 is a sports tourer sold in the Philippines with a Kawasaki badge. The same motorcycle is manufactured and sold in its home country by Bajaj, one of India's top two-wheeler brand. Available in a solitary trim, the Kawasaki Dominar 400 can be had in either Blue or Red finish, and the sports tourer showcases a bold, macho, and alluring look along with housing a powerful 373cc engine that is tuned to offer a robust low-end and mid-range performance. Read our full review to know about the sports tourer in detail.
Kawasaki Dominar 400 Design
At first glance, the Kawasaki Dominar 400 is a bold, muscular, and a motorcycle that looks well-balanced from all angles. The sports tourer features full LED lighting all around with all of the headlamp, taillight, and the turn indicators being LED units. Even though the Dominar 400 is a sports tourer by nature, the front visor is, however, rather small and you might need to get an aftermarket unit for a better experience. Then there is the muscular fuel tank with large extensions and knee recesses along with the radiator with silver owls. Additionally, it's the stylish alloy wheels, split pillion grab rails, sporty footpegs, flat single piece handlebar, and backlit switchgear which provide the Dominar 400 with a premium look and feel. As for the instrument cluster, it is a fully-digital unit with fault safety indications, clock, service reminder, trip meter, digital fuel gauge, and more.
Kawasaki Dominar 400 Ride & Handling
Along with the telescopic forks at the front and the mono-shock at the rear which make for a well-capable and finely-tuned suspension setup that provides the rider with an athletic as well as comfy riding experience, the superior ergonomics, and well-cushioned seating further intensify your experience while measuring the roads with the Dominar 400. Besides, the seat height isn't too high, either, and makes it easy for the short riders to get on and manoeuvre the motorcycle without much nuisance.
Kawasaki Dominar 400 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Kawasaki Dominar 400 gets the same powerhouse that we have already seen on the KTM Duke 390. The petrol-fed motor on the Dominar 400, however, has been re-tuned to suit a sports tourer and behaves a lot differently than its aggressive avatar that resides on the KTM Duke 390. On the Kawasaki Dominar 400, the 373 cc single-cylinder four-stroke liquid-cooled DTS-i engine produces 34.52 hp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 35 Nm at 6,500 revs. Since the Dominar 400 is a sports tourer, the re-tuned 373 cc engine flaunts a strong low end and mid-range performance. The only issues remain to be the vibrations that start bugging you at higher speeds and the 13-litre fuel tank, which should’ve been a little bigger considering the sports tourer tag that the Dominar 400 vaunts.
Kawasaki Dominar 400 Braking & Safety
For a motorcycle that weighs over 180-kg and houses a 373cc engine, you need to have some high-grade brakes to bring to a halt, right? And, for just that, the Dominar 400 comes equipped with disc brakes at both front and rear. Also, the sports tourer features the anti-locking braking system, which further enhances the braking capabilities. All in all, the Dominar 400 isn't going to let you down with its brakes.
Kawasaki Dominar 400 Verdict
So, after having a look at all the various aspects concerning the Kawasaki Dominar 400, we can conclude that the two-wheeler is easily one of the best sports tourers in the Philippines automobile market. The Indian sports tourer with its muscular & bold appearance, powerful & punchy 373 cc engine, superior comfort, and safety features such as anti-locking braking system, the Dominar 400 is one hell of a motorcycle at just Php 175,000. Moreover, while the Indian market has already got the newest iteration, the Philippine masses are, however, yet to get their hands on the updated model that comes with various new bells & whistles such as upside-down front forks, new rearview mirrors, upgraded alloy wheels, and a lot more. Anyway, the on offer Dominar is still a great buy and will remain so until Kawasaki brings in the refreshed model.
