5 Subaru nameplates get nod from IIHS, Consumer Reports

Five Subaru nameplates have been recommended by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) and Consumer Reports as top choices for teen drivers in the United States (US).

According to Subaru, IIHS and Consumer Reports put forward a list of 46 used vehicles and 16 new ones that the organizations recommend for families in the US who are looking for safe and practical automobiles for a recent high school graduate or a young driver.

Included in the recommended new vehicles were 2023 IIHS Top Safety Pick (TSP) and Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) winners from Subaru, namely the Ascent (sold as Evoltis here in the Philippines), Forester, Legacy, and Outback.

Being TSP and TSP+ winners, the abovementioned nameplates boast “Good” or “Acceptable” ratings in IIHS’ crash tests, “Advanced” or “Superior” ratings in front crash prevention tests (including daytime and nighttime pedestrian detection), and “Acceptable” or “Good” ratings for its headlights.

As for the recommended used vehicles, Subaru nameplates included the Impreza (sedan or five-door), Legacy, Outback, and Forrester.
