Aston Martin to Build 25 Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger Edition Cars

Aston Martin Goldfinger DB5
Aston Martin is bringing back its iconic Aston Martin DB5, but it just won't be any other DB5. In collaboration with EON Productions, the company that produces the James Bond films, this new batch of DB5s will be authentic reproductions of the DB5 driven by the fictional British secret agent created by Ian Fleming. Called the Goldfinger DB5 continuation edition, only 25 cars will be reproduced and each one will be based on the DB5 used in the third James Bond movie, "Goldfinger," which starred Sean Connery as the man with the license to kill, down to the Silver Birch paint used in the original. And with the term "authentic reproductions," all 25 cars will have some fully-functioning gadgets as seen in the film, like the revolving number plates co-developed no less by Chris Corbould, Oscar Award winner for Visual Effects on "Inception" and the special effects supervisor himself from the James Bond films, having started as a special effects technician in "A View to a Kill." One of the most instantly recognizable car of all-time, the DB5 in the James Bond movies was laden with gadgets and armaments installed by Q Branch, making Bond's Aston Martin an instant hit with moviegoers. Since its seminal appearance in Goldfinger the DB5 has featured in six more Bond movies: "Thunderball" (1965), again with Connery; "GoldenEye" (1995) and "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1997) with Pierce Brosnan; and three appearances alongside Daniel Craig in "Casino Royale" (2006), "Skyfall" (2012), and "Spectre" (2015). Perhaps more important, all 25 Goldfinger DB5 continuation edition units will be built by Aston Martin Works at Newport Pagnell--the original home of the DB5 "The connection between Aston Martin and James Bond is something of which we are very proud and it is remarkable that the DB5 remains the definitive James Bond car after so many years," said Aston Martin President and Chief Executive Officer Andy Palmer. "To own an Aston Martin has long been an aspiration for James Bond fans, but to own a Silver Birch DB5, complete with gadgets and built to the highest standards in the very same factory as the original James Bond cars? Well, that is surely the ultimate collectors’ fantasy. The skilled craftspeople at Aston Martin Works and the expert special effects team from the James Bond films are about to make this fantasy real for 25 very lucky customers." Each Goldfinger DB5 continuation car will be priced at GBP2.75 million (over PHP189 million) plus taxes. First deliveries to customers will commence in 2020. And before we forget, one last thing worth mentioning is that all 25 Goldfinger DB5 continuation edition cars are not road legal.
