Camouflaged Volkswagen ID.7 makes public debut at CES 2023

The new Volkswagen ID.7, wrapped in “smart camouflage,” made its first public appearance at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

According to the German automotive brand, the “smart camouflage” uses unique technology and multi-layered paintwork to create light effects on parts of the vehicle. It is said to be an interactive feature and symbolizes the next step in the digitalization of the future flagship model of the ID. family.

Confirmed standard features of the new ID.7 include the new display concept, an augmented reality head-up display, a 15-inch screen, new air conditioning controls integrated into the first level of the infotainment system, and illuminated touch sliders.

Range-wise, the all-electric sedan can go up to 700 kilometers on a single charge.

“With the new ID.7, we are extending our electric model range into the upper segments. The sedan will offer top-class technology and quality,” said Volkswagen Passenger Cars Chief Executive Officer Thomas Schäfer.

Per Volkswagen, the new ID.7 is one of 10 new electric vehicles that the Wolfsburg-based brand is planning to launch by 2026. A series production model of the new Volkswagen ID.7 is expected to be revealed in the second quarter of 2023.

The camouflaged Volkswagen ID.7 will remain on display at CES 2023 until January 8.
