GWM PH names Del Pilar as new sales director

MANILA: Automotive industry veteran Michael John del Pilar has joined GWM (Great Wall Motors) Philippines’ leadership team.

In a statement, the Chinese automaker’s arm in the country shared that Del Pilar’s appointment is aimed at strengthening its commitment to excellence, performance, and sustained expansion in the local automotive market.

With nearly three decades of experience in sales and marketing (particularly in automotive sales operations, dealer network development, retail strategy execution, and performance-driven sales management), Del Pilar is expected to contribute to the company his wisdom on industry expertise, strategic insight, and leadership capabilities.

At GWM Philippines, Del Pilar will oversee the firm’s sales operations, dealer performance optimization, strategic sales planning, and revenue growth initiatives.

Known for his hands-on leadership style, strong dealer relationships, and ability to translate strategic direction into measurable results, Del Pilar has consistently demonstrated his ability to build high-performing sales teams and implement data-driven strategies that enhance market penetration and brand competitiveness.

Prior to joining GWM Philippines, del Pilar also became the sales director for Peugeot Philippines under Astara’s local arm. The Madrid-headquartered firm recently exited the country.

For his part, GWM Philippines Brand Head Daximilian Avenido expressed confidence on Del Pilar, saying that his appointment is critical to the brand’s pursuit of widening its foothold in the country through its growing model lineup (including the newly revealed Haval H9 and Cannon).
