GWM PH brings out Haval H9

MANILA: GWM Philippines has finally introduced its contender in the highly-contested midsize sport utility vehicle category, the Haval H9.

Set to compete against heavyweights that come in the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Isuzu mu-X, and Ford Everest — the aforementioned model was already teased in numerous occasions since last year — starting the Manila International Auto Show 2025.

Here’s what you need to know about the highly-anticipated offering from the Luxuriant Automotive Group Incorporated-led automotive distributor.

 Outside, this vehicle features a retro boxy design with horizontal grille (in gunmetal gray color) that carries the Haval logo, rounded LED headlamps in squared housings, distinct tail lamps with third brake lamp, step boards, a front skid plate, roof rails, and a set of 19-inch wheels wrapped in 265/55 tires.

Occupants are welcomed inside the cabin by the premium leather that covers the power-adjustable seats, dashboard, and the multifunction steering wheel.

Aside from that, the GWM Haval H9 is fitted with the following creature comforts that come in the form of:

• 10.25-inch thin film transistor gauge cluster’
• 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment (with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity) mated to an eight-speaker configuration
• Triple zone air-conditioning system (with vents at the roof and center console)
• Various charging options (50-watt wireless charging pad, USB-A and -C ports (two each)
• Auto-dimming rearview mirror
• Sunroof

Under the hood of the vehicle is a four cylinder, 16-valve, common rail direct inject 2.4-liter turbocharged diesel engine that can deliver the following churns:

Power is sent to the wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission that can be controlled using an aviator-type lever or paddle shifters.

The vehicle also comes with a four-wheel-drive drivetrain. Complementing its Off-Road Expert Mode are the seven drive modes namely Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand, and 4L.

Ensuring the vehicle’s drivability are the ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels and its suspension system made up of a double wishbone set-up at the fore and a multi-link, non-independent suspension for the rear.

Further making the behemoth from China a highly equipped offering are its myriad of safety and driver assistive technologies that include:

• Anti-lock braking system with brake assist and override as well as electronic force distribution systems
• Electronic stability control
• Hill descent control and hill start assist
• Roll movement intervention
• Traction control system
• Tire pressure monitoring system
• 540-degree around view monitor
• Off-road cruise control
• Automatic crash unlock function
• Automatic fuel cutoff function
• Smart key entry
• Engine immobilizer

Available in Stealth Grey, Iceberg White, and Midnight Black, the GWM Haval H9 carries a price tag of P1,998,888. The said amount includes a seven-year or 200,000-kilometer warranty.

However, GWM Philippines made it more accessible to more buyers as it slapped with a P70,000-discount, which brought the price down to P1,928,888 million — but is only up until May 31, 2026.
