Honda to sell Cub, Dax, Zoomer-inspired e-bikes in China

Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (HMCI) announced that it will release electric bicycles in China based on the Cub, Dax, and Zoomer small-displacement motorcycles.

    According to Honda’s Chinese arm, the company will take the unique design motif of the abovementioned motorcycles and add advanced features and equipment to them. In doing so, HMCI aims to offer a new sense of value and bring more surprise and choice to young Chinese consumers.

    The three models are also the forerunners of Honda’s goal to introduce a total of more than 10 electric motorcycles globally by 2025.

    No mention of the said models’ specifications but per HMCI, they will be classified as electric bikes (EB) in China. There, EB are electric motorcycles with a maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour or less, revealing the estimated top speed of the Cub, Dax, and Zoomer-inspired e-bikes.

    Although the three EB models announced are part of Honda’s plans to “introduce a total of five compact and affordable EM and EB models between now and 2024 across Asia, Europe, and Japan, in addition to China,” there are no plans to launch these models in Japan.
