Kia Motors Corporation announced its global sales for July 2019. The figure stands at 225,905 units, which is 2.7 percent lower than what the South Korean car brand sold on the same period the previous year.
The number one selling model was the Kia Sportage crossover. The car managed 36,083 units in sales around the world for the month of July.
In its home country, Kia's sales increased slightly from last year to 47,080, with the facelifted K7--aka Kia Cadenza--serving as the reason for the growth. The executive sedan sold 8,173 units, which is the car's highest monthly sales since its debut in 2009. The compact SUV Kia Seltos is another huge seller, posting 3,335 units sold in just six days since its launch last month.
Outside of South Korea, Kia sold 178,822 units, marking a 3.4 percent year-on-year reduction. The Sportage sold 34,223 cars in the global markets, followed by the Kia Rio with 21,398 and Kia Forte with 20,910 units sold.
Kia expects a stronger second half for the years as the Seltos and Kia Telluride starts hitting the markets.
