Kia unveils 2023 Soul in US

Kia has recently unveiled the 2023 Soul in the United States.

The latest iteration of the Kia Soul, the Korean automaker said, boasts “refreshed design elements inside and out.”

“The Soul defined a whole new segment of small cars when it first entered the Kia lineup and it continues into the 2023 model year with as much fun, practicality and style as ever,” Kia America Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President Steve Center was quoted as saying.

“The basic form remains, which is what more than 75,000 happy Soul owners loved so much about the funky runabout last year, representing a nearly five percent increase over sales in 2020. The new 2023 Soul is set to continue that trend with its refreshed design inside and out, advanced technology and feature-packed trims,” he added.

The 2023 Kia Soul offers customers the LX, S, EX and GT-Line variants — discontinuing the X-Line and Turbo trims.

On the outside, the 2023 Kia Soul sports a new grille flanked with LED headlights, new daytime running lights, and redesigned fog lamps. The Korean automaker also updated the 2023 Soul’s rear fascia and tail lamps. The vehicle sits on either 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.

For its interior, Kia said that “what worked best remains and what has changed has made a good thing better.” The vehicle has a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation (available on all trims except base offering).

The newest offering's GT Line Technology package comes with a Harman/Kardon premium audio system with external amplifier, subwoofer, and door-mounted tweeters. It is also fitted with multi-colored LED speaker lights and heated front seats.

The 2023 Kia Soul also provides a host of technologies such as blind spot collision avoidance, rear cross collision avoidance (found in the LX Technology Package) as well as forward collision avoidance assist with junction turning capability (radar + camera type), highway drive assist, navigation-based smart cruise control, electronic parking brake, power driver seat.

Aside from that, the 2023 Kia Soul now has the following standard features that was previously offered as standard:

• forward collision avoidance assist-pedestrian (camera type)
• lane keeping assist with lane following assist
• driver attention warning
• lane departure warning
• high beam assist
• rear occupant alert (door logic)

Powering the 2023 Kia Soul is the 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine produces up to 147 horses and nearly 180Nm of torque. The powertrain is mated to Kia’s Intelligent Variable Transmission.

In the Philippines, Kia had the Soul nameplate available in 2009, but was dropped from the lineup eventually.
