The exterior of the 2022 XCeed was designed under the supervision of Gregory Guillaume, Vice President of Design for Kia Europe.
  • When is the 2022 Kia XCeed expected to roll out in Europe?

The 2022 XCeed is expected to go on sale in September.
  • For 2022, the South Korean carmaker gave the XCeed a bold new exterior design, an enhanced interior, and a competitive powertrain line-up that includes mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, gasoline, and diesel versions.

“Our customers have praised the XCeed’s unique combination of dynamic handling, everyday practicality, and in-car technology. This new model builds upon these strengths with a series of stylish exterior and interior design changes and new tech features. We’ve also ensured our enhanced crossover benefits from the latest powertrain options, a sign of our long-term commitment to delivering sustainable mobility solutions for our customers,” said Kia Europe Vice President of Marketing and Product Sjoerd Knipping.

Outside the new XCeed now boasts a more modern look. Noticeable are its new LED headlamps, refreshed grille, updated front bumper, and its innovative air intake design. It also rides on dedicated 18-inch alloys designed specifically for CUV-segment appeal. At the rear is a new diffuser with a gloss black skid plate and a discreet “exhaust-look” design for a refreshed sporty look across the XCeed range.

The exterior of the Kia XCeed was crafted under the direction of Gregory Guillaume, Vice President of Design for Kia Europe.

“The XCeed is our most popular model within the Ceed range and it was important that we took this opportunity to further refine its styling and progress the Ceed design language. The changes we have made further highlight the sporty, urban, and adventurous nature of the XCeed,” Guillaume commented.

Would-be owners will be greeted with a cabin that boasts improved ergonomics and high-quality materials.

Its “floating” touchscreen infotainment system — with Bluetooth multi-connection, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay — immediately catches the attention. Under it is a set of touch-sensitive buttons, dials, and switches to control audio volume, heating, and ventilation. It is complemented by a large 12.3-inch Supervision digital instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation, audio information, in-depth trip information, vehicle diagnostics alerts, and pop-up notifications.

The interior is finished in sophisticated soft-touch materials throughout, with a satin chrome dashboard trim presenting a refined, upscale ambiance. Customers can choose from a range of cloth, suede, synthetic leather, or genuine leather upholstery finishes for the seats.

Powering the new XCeed will either be a three-cylinder 1.0-liter T-GDi engine, a four-cylinder 1.5-liter T-GDi engine, or a high-power 1.6-liter T-GDi engine. It will also be made available with a mild-hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) powertrain with a 1.6-liter diesel with Kia’s Mild Hybrid Starter-Generator (MHSG) and a compact 48-volt lithium-ion polymer battery. Also available is a highly efficient plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain that combines a 1.6-liter "Kappa" four-cylinder GDI engine, an 8.9 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack, and a 44.5 kW electric motor.

“A sporty alternative to larger models, the XCeed has become the best-selling model in the wider Kia Ceed line-up. It provides the commanding driving position and comfort of an SUV with the dynamic handling and maneuverability of a compact European hatchback,” said Knipping.

Kia also introduces a new GT-line variant to the new XCeed range.

It boasts an edgy tiger nose design that frames the new front grille. Sporty lower air intakes and side bumper cladding adds a more aggressive look to the front end. It also has functional air curtains, finished in dark chrome, that feed air through the front of the car to reduce drag and enhance aerodynamic efficiency.

The new model rides on sleek, machine-finished 18-inch alloy wheels to give an athletic appeal, while body-colored sills, gloss black roof rails, and mirrors further boost its active and dynamic appearance.

Inside the GT-line XCeed is a D-cut steering wheel, black headliner, a gear knob wrapped in perforated leather, and a special GT-line seat design.
