Korean Brands Bested Japanese, Euro, American Cars in 2018 J.D. Power Study
Korean car brands Genesis, Kia, and Hyundai owned the top three spots of the 2018 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS). The three Korean brands finished ahead of car manufacturers like Porsche, Lexus, and Ford. The J.D. The initial quality is measured through the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles. The lower the score means the higher the quality.
Genesis, the luxury vehicle division of Hyundai Motor Group, finished in first place with 68 problems reported per 100 vehicles that were surveyed. Kia claims the top two spot with 72 followed by Hyundai with 74. This is the first time that three Korean brands finished at the top of the overall ranking.
On the other hand, the top five car brands in this year's J.D. Power IQS is completed by Porsche with 79 and Ford with 81.
