MG P9 might enter PH market

MANILA: MG (Morris Garages) might launch the P9 pick-up truck in the Philippines.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) recently issued a document that shared information about the aforementioned model (which was likely adapted from the Maxus Interstellar) being registered in the country.

Here are some bits of information about the vehicle as stated in the LTO Memorandum Circular VDM-2025-4601 issued last month — all while waiting for SAIC Motor Philippines to confirm such a move.

As stated in the paperwork, the MG P9 has the following measurements:

Overall dimensions (length, width, height; in millimeters [mm>)	5,550 x 1,997 x 1,874

Ground clearance (in mm)	300

Further, the vehicle runs on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 265/65 tires.

Upon checking SAIC Motors’ product’s abroad, the abovementioned figure falls similar to that of the MG U9, which will be formally introduced in the Australian market next month.

Further, the Philippine-documented MG U9 is powered by a 2.5-liter diesel engine that lets it go as fast as 180 kilometers per hour.

In the Australian market, the said engine, which also runs in four-wheel-drive configuration, can dish out the following numbers:

The powertrain is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Given such details, the LTO-approved pick-up truck is likely the model’s base trim in the Land Down Under.
