Mitsubishi 100 Years Anniversary Expo Is A Treat For All Mitsubishi Fans

Mitsubishi 100 Years Anniversary Expo
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) officially opened the doors of its Mitsubishi 100 Years Anniversary Expo to the public at around noon yesterday, June 8, and the World Trade Center in Pasay City was already crammed with people eager to see the cars on display and to test drive nearly all of Mitsubishi’s product lineup.

Mitsubishi 100 Years Anniversary Expo

Immediately upon entering the lobby of the World Trade Center, visitors can already see on display various generations of the Mitsubishi Lancer and Mitsubishi Galant, the bread-and-butter models of MMPC from the 1970s until most recently in the early 2000s. Also on display in the lobby are Mitsubishi’s iconic engines, like the venerable 4G63 and the 4G93 GDi. It’s also in the lobby where visitors need to sign up for them to be allowed to go around the venue and gain access to the various activity areas both inside and outside the venue.

On display inside the venue’s main hall are Mitsubishi’s current product lineup composed of the Adventure, ASX, Lancer, Mirage, Mirage G4, Montero Sport, Pajero, and Strada in addition to its commercial vehicles, particularly its Fuso line of trucks and buses.

It’s also in the main hall where visitors looking to buy a brand-new vehicle can talk to a Mitsubishi sales representative and avail of the flurry of discounts the Japanese carmaker is giving them. As a matter of fact, just by visiting the four-day event and registering for it, they already get a P10,000 discount coupon. They can then double this and make it P20,000 by signing up to test drive any Mitsubishi vehicle at the venue. In addition, MMPC will add as much as P30,000 on the appraised value of any vehicle to be traded in--Mitsubishi-branded or otherwise--for any brand-new Mitsubishi model at the show. Lastly, for those who will place a reservation on any brand-new Mitsubishi vehicle during the show’s four-day run, they can get as much as P50,000 through its giant-sized Lucky Drop Pachinko game. As an added treat, all the incentive coupons acquired at the 100 Years Anniversary Expo can be treated as additional discounts when buying any brand-new Mitsubishi vehicle for both cash and financing transactions until August 11, 2017.

Of course, the highlight of Mitsubishi’s display in the World Trade Center are the vehicles borrowed from the Mitsubishi Auto Gallery in Okazaki, Japan bannered by the PX33, Japan’s first full-time four-wheel drive passenger car from 1935 and the Lancer WRC, Mitsubishi’s last official entry in the World Rally Championship which competed from the 2001 to the 2007 season. Laid out in between are the Colt F2000 formula race car from 1971, the Lancer 1600 GSR rally car which competed in--and won--the 1974 and 1976 Safari Rally, the Lancer EX 2000 Turbo which claimed the 1983 and 1984 All Japan Championship Rally, the Starion which competed prominently in Group A and Group N races in the 1980s, and the #189 Pajero which won the 1985 Paris-Dakar Rally. Also on display on the other side of the main hall are the production and rally version of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, the latter of which was driven by Hirshi Masuoka and Pascal Maimon at the 2015 Baja Portalegre.

Registered visitors can also test drive Mitsubishi’s line of vehicles, including its i-MiEV all-electric car and the Outlander Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle. What will probably draw most attendees to the test drive area though is the opportunity to see and feel how the Montero Sport is against its competitors from three other carmakers as they take the vehicles through six different obstacles in the Head-to-Head Test Drive Challenge, from testing its noise, vibration, and harshness levels to its water-wading capability and weather sealing.

Mitsubishi 100 Years Anniversary Expo

The Mitsubishi 100 Years Anniversary Expo has everything for everybody. Kids can have fun in one corner of the main hall where Nickelodeon has set up an area which includes the DriftBox drift karts while appearances and performances of celebrities led by Mitsubishi Mirage brand ambassadors Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards will surely keep everyone entertained.

Prior to the event being opened to the public, MMPC also took the opportunity to hand over a P1 million check to the GMA Kapuso Foundation which will be used to rebuild a bridge for the students in Brgy. Iraya in Buhi, Camarines Sur. After the old bridge was destroyed by Typhoon Niña in 2016, the students had to traverse the river using the damaged, leftover cables of the old bridge. The Mitsubishi 100 Years Anniversary Expo runs until June 11 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. It’s a worthwhile experience to learn about the history of one of the Philippines’ top car brands and how it has shaped the automotive landscape with some of the technologies it developed. And it’s free so there’s really no excuse for anyone not to go.
