Tarlac cooperative picks Hyundai to supply latest batch of modernized public transport

The official distributor of Hyundai trucks and buses in the country announced their latest transport modernization efforts in Central Luzon region.

Hyundai Asia Resources, Incorporated (HARI) recently delivered 30 units of Hyundai HD50S Modern Jeepney Class 2 to the Tarlac-Moncada-Gerona-Paniqui (Tamogepa) Transport Service Cooperative, Incorporated.

The said group, which has been in the business for 36 years, will have 45 more units of Class 2 HD50S Modern Jeepneys to be handed over within the year.

The ceremonial handover was attended by Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Region 3 Director Ahmed Cuizon.

In a statement, HARI sees “Hyundai’s presence in Tarlac via the HD50S Modern Jeepney Class 2” as an optimistic sign of the region’s initiatives toward advancing mobility and ultimately, reinvigorating the economy amid the challenges of the new normal way of life. 

The HD50S Modern Jeepney is equipped with a 2.9-liter Euro 4-compliant CRDi engine that ensures good fuel efficiency, reliability, and cleaner emissions. The overall design boasts enhanced stability and optimal power-to-weight ratio, with a 3,415-millimeter wheelbase. It can accommodate 22-seated passengers plus 10 standing commuters.

Aside from that, the vehicle also has roof-mounted air conditioning, contactless payment using Auto Fare Collection System (AFCS), Wi-Fi, GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, 7-inch monitor, and speed limit warning buzzer.

The aforementioned model received the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Certificate of Compliance (COC) in 2019—together with the Hyundai H-100 Class 1 Modern Jeepney.  Last year, another modern jeepney design under the HD50S Class 3 platform was also granted its COC.

As relayed by HARI CV Sales Head Monch Osorio, Hyundai Trucks and Buses President Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo expressed gratitude over the trust and support of Tamogepa to the brand.
