Mazda 3 has achieved another pat on the back by attaining the highest government safety ratings for a vehicle. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has given the compact car a 5-Star overall ratings in side crash, rollover, frontal crash, and in total vehicle score. The NHTSA's 5-Star Safety Ratings allow consumers to make intelligent choices when it comes to buying safe vehicles. The 5-Star Safety Ratings program studies and analyzes how vehicles perform in crash tests. “We are proud that the 2020 Mazda3 has earned NHTSA’s top rating for crashworthiness,” said Mazda North America President Jeff Guyton. “Mazda’s i-Activsense advanced safety features on the Mazda3 help provide even more peace of mind for the driver, helping enhance our customer’s driving experience.” The newest Mazda 3 hatchback and sedan comes with advanced safety technologies endorsed by NHTSA: dynamic brake support, lane departure warning, crash imminent braking, and forward collision warning. Moreover, its i-Activsense safety systems come with these standard features:
  • Smart Brake Support
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Driver Attention Alert
  • Automatic on/off LED headlights
  • High Beam Control
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers
Mazda's i-ACTIVSENSE is an umbrella term that covers a number of advanced safety technologies that use detection devices, like milliwave radars and cameras. These features include active safety technologies that support safe driving, helping the driver to notice possible hazards on the road. The i-ACTIVSENSe also uses pre-crash safety technologies that prevent vehicle collisions, or lessen their severity in situations where they cannot be avoided. Aside from getting a nod from NHTSA, the 2020 Mazda 3 has also won Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) for its hatchback and sedan models.
