Volkswagen Philippines will likely be adding a new hue to the T-Cross palette.
To note, the local arm of the German automotive brand made quite the buzz after its social media post stirred the interest of its local fans.
On Friday, Volkswagen Philippines posted a picture of a vehicle that quite resembles the Amarok pickup truck. That said, Volkswagen customers were quick to ask what the post was all about.
Some way it could be the Amarok, others say it could be the Touareg, and a few even stated it might be the Tiguan.
Not much can be made out of the picture, but one can see the clean straight lines on the grille, the simple and straightforward lights that flank it, and the sleek lower bumper that give it a self-assured appearance. To be honest, this had us wishing it was the Amarok.
Seeing that picture was purposefully dark, we decided to adjust and play with the brightness, exposure, and contrast a little.
Lo and behold, in front of us was a T-Cross.
To note, the current T-Cross is available in Syringa Violet, Tribu (yellow), Romance Red, Polar White, and Chinchilla Gray. No name has been given to the new hue but it’s sort of like a dark teal color, maybe close to that of the all-new GAC GS8’s Ink Seal Green finish.
Captioned “new hue for the new you,” Volkswagen Philippines might also be hinting at several upgrades to the T-Cross nameplate.
The locally available model sports a 1.5-liter powerplant mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. On paper, it makes around 111 horsepower with 145Nm of torque. Performance data is not as impressive as other models but it apparently can go from zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 13.3 seconds with a top speed of 185kph.
Notable appointments include a panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, and a 9.25-inch infotainment system.
Volkswagen Philippines is yet to reveal the color and the improvements — if there are any — soon.
