KEY TAKEAWAYS
What are the three prototypes presented by Yamaha?
The concept bikes are the Yamaha Proto HEV, Proto PHEV, and Proto BEV.Where did the company showcase its NEV prototypes?
The said bikes were presented at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.The aforementioned future models are expected to provide excitement in the world of two-wheel mobility.
Prior to their reveal to the global stage, the Japanese motorcycle company presented the three electrified concept bikes in development to select journalists. These are the Yamaha Proto HEV, Proto PHEV, and Proto BEV.
Here is a quick look at what these promising prototypes have to offer:
Yamaha Proto HEV
The Yamaha Proto HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) is a series-parallel hybrid motorcycle. As with conventional four-wheeled hybrids that ply our roads, the said concept bike uses a combustion engine with a displacement size of under 300 cubic-centimeter with an electric motor.

The use of both an internal combustion engine (ICE) as well as an electric motor present various advantages to riders such as the following:
- Quietness, fuel economy while using electric energy only
- Excitement, long-distance travel when using ICE
- Regenerative braking for battery charging

That said, future production models that will come from the prototype will offer the perks of owning an electrified motorcycle but also enjoy the pleasure of riding native to traditional motorbikes.
Yamaha Proto BEV
The Yamaha Proto BEV was created around the idea of “fun that can only be experienced with a large-capacity battery EV (electric vehicle).” The concept was that while small electric bikes can help reduce our carbon footprint, riders who are seeking are more fun experience can get them with larger electric motorcycles.

As such, it will be a good machine to ride on when attacking corners since it will allow riders to quickly exit bends unlike ICE motorbikes that can sometimes have lag due to the power delay from the process of combustion.
The Yamaha Proto BEV also has a battery that can be designed flexibly, so we could see future models that are patterned from other models produced by the manufacturer.
Its other notable advantage is its ability to achieve a similar center of gravity, comparable frame and swingarm rigidity, and comparable front and rear suspension and brake specifications to the company’s supersport bikes powered by an ICE.
The Yamaha Proto BEV also produces less vibrations due to thee fact that it is powered by an electric motor.
Exciting future
Thheh future of two-wheeled mobility truly looks exciting thanks to the prototypes shared by Yamaha Motor Company Limited. Not only do they promise clean and green transportation, but the way they deliver power and performance can change the way we ride motorcycles.
