BYD eMAX 7 Overview
Through the eMAX 7, BYD Cars Philippines showed its mastery in providing a sustainable and smooth electric cruising experience without sacrificing space and comfort. Equipped with a class-leading wheelbase and a well-tuned suspension system, this all-electric MPV can effortlessly accommodate six or seven passengers. This makes it a great choice for families who are planning to enter the EV scene and experience modern-age driving. The BYD eMAX 7 is available in two variants - Standard (7-seater), which is priced at ₱1.498 million, and Superior Captain (6-seater), which is priced at ₱1.748 million. It is available in four colours: Quartz Blue, Cosmos Black, Crystal White, and Harbour Grey.

BYD eMAX 7 Interior
The BYD eMAX 7’s interior is filled with soft-touch materials, which is really good for an MPV. Its cabin offers generous amounts of leg and head rooms for second row passengers and still a decent space for third row seaters. Its well-padded leather seats provide good ergonomics, ensuring that all passengers remain comfortable even on longer trips. Although, only the Superior Captain gets ventilated seats.
All passengers can enjoy a 12.8-inch rotating touch screen infotainment display that offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB, Bluetooth, voice assistant, 4G connectivity, OTA uploading, and the brand’s cloud service. One flaw of this MPV’s interior, however, is its outdated instrument cluster, which is not yet fully-digital compared to most EVs at the present time.
For better lighting and natural air ventilation, the top variant gets a panoramic glass sunroof, adding a premium vibe to the MPV’s cabin. Ultimately, the BYD eMAX 7’s interior really prioritized comfort and accessibility for all passengers.

BYD eMAX 7 Exterior
From the outside, the BYD eMAX 7 looks like a longer version of the Atto 3. It also sports BYD’s signature smooth front fascia, with the brand’s B-Y-D lettering as its centerpiece. It is also given LED headlamps and DRLs. Like the Atto 3, its headlamps kind of resemble a dragon’s eyes, giving it a unique flare especially at night. On the sides, it has sleek lines that give it character on the road. Its door side mirrors are both power adjustable and folding.
At the back, it looks pretty straightforward. It has LED tail lamps, rear fog lamps, and also a high-mount brake lamp. However, only the higher variant, Superior Captain, gets a power tailgate for extra convenience and prestige. In addition, the top variant is also equipped with roof rails for extra cargo space. Both variants are 4,710 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, 1,690 mm in height, and 2,800 mm in wheelbase. The eMAX 7 runs on 17-inch 2-tone alloy wheels.

BYD eMAX 7 Ride & Handling
The BYD eMAX 7 utilizes a suspension combination of a MacPherson strut at the front and a multi-link at the rear. This all-electric MPV offers responsive steering and good turning, allowing you and your family to have a smooth cruising experience overall. However, one issue with its suspension is that it makes the car too light or too soft in terms of handling. Many drivers still prefer a balanced ride that feels light but remains firm at the same time.
-
BYD eMAX 7 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The BYD eMAX 7 is powered by a FWD permanent magnet synchronous motor and BYD’s ‘Blade Battery’. Since the Superior Captain is the higher variant, it is only fitting that it gets the stronger version of the motor and a bigger battery. The Superior Captain’s powertrain produces a maximum motor power of 204 PS and a maximum motor torque of 310 Nm. Its battery has a capacity of 71.8 kWh and a driving range (NEDC) of 530 km.
On the other hand, the Standard variant’s powertrain produces a lower maximum motor power, which is 163 PS but the same torque as the Superior Captain’s (310 Nm). Its battery has a capacity of 55.4 kWh and a driving range (NEDC) of 420 km.
Both variants perform well both on city roads and highways. For an MPV that targets families, this vehicle runs powerfully. Hence, overtaking or driving at high speeds wouldn’t be an issue for you inside the eMAX 7. It is also a feasible daily vehicle in the city. The eMAX 7 line runs on a front-wheel drive system.
-
BYD eMAX 7 Braking & Safety
Another downside of the BYD eMAX 7 is that only its higher variant is equipped with the brand’s DiPilot, which comprises a long list of advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking system, lane departure assist, blind spot detection, predictive collision warning, rear collision warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear cross traffic braking, and a door open warning.
The base variant only gets a 360-degree view with see-through mode, 4 sensors, manual cruise control, standard safety and security features, as well as other braking support mechanisms.
In terms of braking, the eMAX 7 line utilizes ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the rear. Its braking setup is equipped with an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, and electronic stability control.

BYD eMAX 7 Verdict
For its affordable prices, the BYD eMAX 7 is a great contender within the current MPV segment of the Filipino market. It offers class-leading wheelbase, top-notch comfort and ergonomics, as well as a smooth cruising experience overall. It will only get more competitive, if BYD works on its downsides moving forward.
