Changan Nevo A05

Similar to other new-gen Nevo models, the Changan Nevo A05 features a minimalist interior design, which doesn’t look nor feel entry-level at all. The front row is a nice place to be in, while the second row has adequate space for two. However, seating three tall and large passengers at the back might not be the most ideal setup. But, on the plus side, this sedan comes with well-padded leather seats, which provide everyone on board with good ergonomics, as well as a generous trunk space at the back.

Upon entering this sedan, drivers are greeted by a high-tech cockpit that consists of a 10.25-inch full TFT display and a sporty-looking multifunction steering wheel. For entertainment and information accessibility, the Nevo A05 is equipped with a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment display that is equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB, and is connected to a 6-speaker sound system. There is a bit of a learning curve when using this car’s interior controls, as everything is operated through the infotainment display. 

Aside from these, this sedan also comes with a 12V power socket and USB ports for enhanced passenger convenience. All in all, the Nevo A05’s cabin offers just the right mix of practicality, comfort, and functionality.

From the outside, the Changan Nevo A05’s appearance has an executive-like aura attached to it. It features an assertive, robotic-looking facade illuminated by automatic LED headlights with slim LED DRLs. In addition, it comes with a smooth fascia and a blacked-out lower grille for a sporty touch. 

Furthermore, this sedan flaunts a classy two-toned hypermodern silhouette, defined by sharp character lines, chrome trims, and blacked-out finishes. Meanwhile, its rear is illuminated by sharp-looking LED tail lights along with an LED high-mounted brake light for more visibility. Its sporty style carries over to its rear thanks to a faux exhaust tip on each side.

The Changan Nevo A05 measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,460 mm in height. This plug-in hybrid sedan has a wheelbase of 2,765 mm and runs on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, which look really elegant on the road.  

The Changan Nevo A05 utilizes a MacPherson independent suspension at the front and a Torsion Beam independent suspension at the rear. This sedan is light and nimble to maneuver even through tight traffic or narrow streets despite having a firm suspension setup. It can also absorb small to moderately-sized road imperfections quite well, leading to a pliant and pleasant riding experience for all passengers. 

Powering the Changan Nevo A05 is a combination of a 1.5L petrol engine and an electric motor. Its electric motor is powered by an 18.4 kWh battery pack, which offers an NEDC EV range of 130 km. Combined, this hybrid powertrain produces a power output of 212 hp and a torque output of 330 Nm. This sedan comes mated to Changan’s dedicated hybrid transmission system and utilizes a front-wheel drivetrain. 

On the open road, this sedan is quick and smooth. Even at high speeds, you won’t hear much noise inside the cabin thanks to its great NVH suppression system. Like its cousins, the Nevo A05 excels in terms of efficiency and range–allowing you to save money and energy when commuting in the city and, at the same time, remain calm and confident when travelling out of town. The Nevo A05 comes with four drive modes: EV, HEV, REEV, and iEM.

In terms of safety, the Changan Nevo A05 is equipped with an integrated adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, front collision warning, traffic jam assist, autonomous emergency braking, as well as a 540-degree virtual-view camera with a 360-degree recording. 

Additionally, its braking setup is supported by an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, traction control system, electronic stability program, and hill hold control.

In my opinion, the Changan Nevo A05 is currently among the locally-available 5-seater PHEVs that offer the highest value for money. For its price point, you’ll already get loads of premium features, advanced driving assistance systems, and a class-leading comprehensive range.
