Nissan Almera Latest Updates
The current-gen Almera has been around for a while and is in need of an update. Thankfully, the 4th gen Almera was caught testing in Thailand and should make its way to the Philippines in the near future. The current-gen Almera is available in 5 variants, 1.2L MT(PHP657,000), 1.5L E MT (PHP735,000), 1.5L E AT (PHP824,000), 1.5L V AT (PHP900,000), 1.5L VL AT (PHP933,000). The 1.2-litre engine makes 79 PS and 106 Nm while the bigger 1.5-litre motor makes 99 PS and 134 Nm. Both engines are petrol and the MT variants come with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the AT ones have a 4-speed auto box. Exterior highlights include boomerang-shaped headlamps, integrated turn signals in mirrors and 15-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, you get a start/stop button, auto AC, rear AC vents and upper glove box with a USB port. Safety kit includes 2 front airbags, rear parking sensors and ABS with EBD.

Nissan Almera Overview
Nissan Almera has a bold exterior design with a large cabin and cargo space, sleek and stylish interiors, and a strong air-conditioning system. It is known to be an ideal subcompact sedan for families in the Philippines and aside from comfort and convenience, it also ensures reliable driving performance.
The car was introduced in 1995 and is now currently in the fourth generation. Last year, Nissan introduced the 2020 version of Almera in Thailand. It is the revamped version of what is currently available here in the Philippines and let’s all hope for its arrival sooner.
Standard features like front airbags, keyless system, brake assist, immobilizer, child protection lock with an anchor, and speed sensing door locks were employed by Nissan Philippines to maximize its overall safety.
Almera is available in two engine set-ups being the one with 1.2L mill as the standard and the 1.5L for the top-spec models with manual and automatic transmission options. The available colors are Titanium Grey, Brilliant Silver, Alpine White, Bluish Black, and Sapphire Metallic Blue.
It is also known for being an affordable car with a price ranging from PHP 657,000 to PHP 933,000 which makes it a very practical but also ideal choice for those who want to own a car without burning a hole in their pockets.

Nissan Almera’s interior is considered classy and superb. The spacious cabin with class-leading rear legroom and ample storage spaces make it a superior in terms of providing comfort to its passengers.
One of the highlights of Almera’s interior is the air-conditioning system. It has an automatic climate control that can easily be adjusted through the center console. The first of its kind rear comfort fan with double cooling vents and speed control dial improves the car’s air circulation so your rear passenger would never have to worry about ventilation while on a fabric upholstered seats.
The center console, although quite outdated because of the lack of touchscreen display, has a piano black finish with silver accents on the sides to add a little feel of premium ambience. Meanwhile, between the gauges in the instrument control lies the drive computer that displays important information like fuel efficiency, fuel tank status, and outdoor temperature. Other amazing interior features include adjustable rear headrests, rear armrest, and rear reading lamps. Nissan did a good job on ensuring the comfort of the rear passengers which are usually forgotten by most car manufacturers. Another feature that is simply amazing about this car is the Upper Glove Pocket with AUX and USB port ideal for phone or laptop charging. The infotainment system comes with 2DIN AM/FM/CD/MP3/AUX and four speakers.
When it comes to storage and cargo space, Almera boasts a spacious glove box, rear cup holders, and front door pockets. As for the boot space, it can store up to 422 litres or 14.9 cubic feet so it is also ideal during out of town vacations and long travels.
Nissan Almera Exterior
The available model here in the Philippines might something that would not impress all people in terms of the exterior but it can be acceptable. With a dimension of 4,425 mm long, 1,695 mm wide, and 1,505 mm tall, the Nissan Almera is considered best-in-class in terms of length and wheelbase that gives it a premium stance for an affordable price.
The top-spec model sports a chrome front grille while the other three have a matte black front grille. It is equipped with 15-inch alloys and/or 14-inch steel rims based on the model.
Nissan describes Almera’s exterior as modest. The modern curves of the car give emphasis to the boomerang headlights, rear spoiler, new 12-spoke alloy wheels, and chrome accents on the bumper, grille, and door handle. These features give slight angst and bolder look to the sedan itself.
You may find the whole design as basic but the aerodynamic structure of this sedan lets it have a better fuel efficiency, performance, and a quieter ride. Meanwhile, the integrated LED turn signals on the side mirrors can be a plus to the holistic styling of the car.
Nissan Almera Ride & Handling
Its soft suspension set-up lets you have smoother rides and hassle-free road grip. Almera is equipped with MacPherson Strut with Coil Springs and Stabilizer for the front suspension and Rigid Axle Torsion Beam for the rear.
When it comes to riding quality, Almera is doing well in terms of controlling the Noise, Vibration, and Harshness levels. Since it has comfortable seats and a very reliable suspension set-up, you can definitely have a convenient ride even during long travels.
The handling performance is being taken care of by the light-weight electrically powered steering wheel that ensures easy maneuvres and cornering even on heavy traffic or congested areas.

Nissan Almera Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Nissan Almera comes in two different engines, a 1.2-litre, and a 1.5-litre mill. The base model 1.2 MT has the 1.2-litre petrol engine that can fire up to 79 PS at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 106 Nm at 4,400 rpm while shifting gears through a 5-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the models with bigger engines 1.5 E MT and 1.5 E AT come with a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options. Both are equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that can fire up to 99 PS at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 134 Nm torque at 4000 rpm.
Lastly, the top-spec model 1.5 VL AT can be partnered with either 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox and has the same outputs with the E models.
Nissan Almera Braking & Safety
As for the braking, Almera has the Ventilated Discs and Drum Brakes for front and rear, respectively. It may not be the best braking system but it can be just enough for cornering, heavy traffic areas, and sudden halts.
This sedan is also equipped with the Nissan Safety Shield philosophy. It is a comprehensive approach to car safety that guides every engineering and development done to Nissan vehicles. The car is reinforced with the standard Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist to ensure the safety of the passengers.
Some additional safety features include speed-sensing door locks, engine immobilizer, three-point seat belts with height adjustment, and rear parking sensors.
