Chevrolet has refurbished the cabin of the Camaro for this latest iteration compared to the previous model. The all-black theme has been well executed to showcase its sporty intentions, and the minimalist approach makes the cabin quite driver-oriented.

The three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with its wide center boss has been now lifted off from the Corvette, which looks sporty with its flat bottom theme. The instrument console might not be a flashy fully digital unit still but manages to look cool with its array of analog gauges styled quite uniquely.

The center console of the Chevrolet Camaro consists of a hexagonal housing for the rectangular touchscreen infotainment system, and below this housing sit large twin round propeller-like AC vents. These vents are tucked at the beginning of the wide transmission tunnel, which has a Y-shaped housing for the main transmission lever as well as an electronic parking brake.

This latest iteration of the Chevrolet Camaro takes the legacy of the fifth-generation model which was unveiled for the first time back in 2010, with an all-new design language and platform underneath for the brand Camaro. It surely has got a muscular appeal which is a positive trait given that the Camaro hasn’t forgotten its muscle car roots much.

The front styling of the Chevrolet Camaro looks fresher than the model it has replaced – it still gets the wide front fascia with the curved grille which is horizontally stretched all the way to the corners of the front profile. It also engulfs the main headlamps on the corners, which now look much slimmer than before, and have its inner upper corners stretched towards the center of the grille, while housing the daytime running LEDs. The lower air dam on the front bumper too looks wide and gets L-shaped air vents to aid in aerodynamics for the car.

The Chevrolet Camaro looks muscular when viewed from the sides, thanks to its long profile and muscular haunches above the front and rear wheel arches. The front hood of the car, with its long profile and haunch in the middle portion, gives the Chevrolet Camaro a very beefy look. Further, the angular pillars, tapered window waistline and door-mounted rearview mirrors give the Camaro a sporty look.

At the back, the Chevrolet Camaro has been tweaked heavily, which can be sensed with the way the tail lamps are now designed. It now gets split design on either side, with all the quadruple tail lights getting LED inserts and rounded edges, thus making the rear profile look much fresher. A sleek boot-mounted spoiler and twin exhaust pipes make sure that the Camaro is a true blue sports car.

The Chevrolet Camaro does not drive as sharply as a modern-day sports car, but its more comfortable and pliant feel from the front and rear independent suspension, both of which get stabilizers and anti-roll bars. The car feels planted on fast stretches, giving it the likeable feel of a high-speed grand tourer.

The Philippines car market does not get the very famed V8 petrol engine options of the Camaro, and instead, it gets a humbler 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine under its long hood. Paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, this engine breathes out impressive 277 PS of power and 398 Nm of torque.

The Chevrolet Camaro is well-kitted in terms of safety features, with the grand tourer muscle car getting things like the front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, drive modes, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors and reverse camera, tire pressure monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning and lane change alert.

The muscular and modern approach towards design in and out is what makes the Chevrolet Camaro such a relevant and unique proposition among similarly priced sports cars. It might lack the agility in corners when compared to proper sports cars, but its top-notch quality feel and planted feel over fast stretches make it a very desirable place to be in.
