Chevrolet Trailblazer

The Chevrolet Trailblazer has a sober looking interior cabin, which might not look too futuristic and modern by today’s standards, but what catches attentions is the sturdy feel and good fit and finish, with top quality materials and components used.

The T-style multifunctional steering wheel looks a bit boring, but the instrument console looks comprehensive with a number of dials on display. The dashboard has four vertical AC vents, with the central AC vents getting brushed silver finish around them. The central console looks broad with a touchscreen infotainment system tucked in between the vertical AC vents, with a small panel of automatic climate control placed below it.

The cabin is equipped with modern amenities like powered driver’s seat, push-button start with keyless entry, and rear AC vents. And given its sheer size, the interior cabin space is very appreciable in all the three rows.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer might not have a striking and individualistic design language to set it apart from the crowd, but it is aggressive enough with its huge stance, commanding respectable road presence.

At the front, the Chevrolet Trailblazer looks bold and huge with the large two-part grille which gets chrome surrounds and horizontal slats within them. The angular headlamps look decent with daytime running LEDs, while the carved type housings for the LED fog lamps make the front bumper look huge too. The hood is finished in contrasting black wrap finish, making it look sporty.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer looks mammoth from the sides, with large alloy wheels and high ground clearance aiding in its large appeal. The wraparound theme for the rear quarter glass helps in making the SUV look even bigger. However, black cladding around wheel arches or side moulding might have added some ruggedness to the side profile.

At the rear, the Chevrolet Trailblazer looks simple with simple looking tail lamps, which look quite small for the size of the rear hatch.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer shares its rugged underpinnings with Isuzu MU-X, and gets independent double wishbone at the front and 5-link coil springs at the rear. The suspension feels strong and sturdy enough, which feels unshakable off the smooth terrains, and the on-road manners are decent too. The body roll, however, can be felt at higher speeds.

There are two engine options employed for the Chevrolet Trailblazer. The base variant has a 2.5-litre four cylinder diesel engine, which is coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox and produces 163 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque. The bigger 2.8-litre four cylinder diesel engine gets paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox as standard, and pumps out 200 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer gets a number of safety features on board like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, front collision alert, lane departure warning, side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, trailer sway control and tire pressure monitoring system, making it the most feature rich SUV from safety point of view.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer amazes one with its intimidating stance which is huge enough to give it a premium and big car appeal, something which reflected by well appointed inter as well. The torquey engine options match the personality of the vehicle too, with a good prowess off the road as well. However, we would have loved to see fee more comfort and convenience features on board.
