Haima S7

One of the striking features of the Haima S7 is its interior design. Entering this vehicle, you will notice its soft-touch dashboard that is accentuated with piano black and chrome trims. Exclusive to the driver are leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob as well as a 3.5-inch LCD computer display instrument panel. 

At the center of the dashboard is a 12-inch multi-functional touchscreen display that is a little bit outdated for current standards because it does not offer Apple CarPlay nor Android Auto. It does, however, have Bluetooth connectivity, phone mirroring, and AUX. Below this display are integrated touch controls. On top of this, its seats are also equipped with patterned lint fabric upholstery, which give the car a premium look inside. 

One of the strengths of the Haima S7 is its spacious interior for an entry-level compact crossover. It has decent leg and head rooms and a trunk capacity of 400 liters. 

From the outside, the Haima S7 has a sleek minimalistic design. It sports black mesh grilles, halogen headlamps, and LED DRLs at the front, giving the vehicle a clean sporty look. The S7 is equipped with side mirror repeaters and black emotional side skirts, which enhance the car’s sideview appearance. On top, it also has a luggage rack that is very functional and convenient for individuals who frequently go on out-of-town trips with family and friends. To complete the look, it is equipped with a set of 16-inch wheels. 

In terms of dimensions, both variants are 4,480 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, 1,715 mm in height. Both have a wheelbase of 2,619 mm and a ground clearance of 180 mm.

In terms of suspension, the Haima S7 utilizes independent MacPherson struts at the front, while independent multi-link at the rear. This combination allows the vehicle to have enhanced stability, good bump absorption, and lightweight maneuvering, all of which contribute to a comfortable ride either on smooth or rough terrains. 

Both the MT and AT variants of the Haima S7 are powered by a 1.8 L, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 16 valves. The engine produces a maximum power output of 185 hp and a maximum torque of 230 Nm. The former runs on 6-speed manual transmission, while the latter runs on 6-speed automatic transmission. In terms of power train, it utilizes a front-wheel drive system. Its performance numbers might not be that great, but it surpasses other locally-available 5-seater crossovers like the Chery Tiggo Pro 2 and the Geely Coolray in terms of power output. You will not be disappointed when driving this either on rural highways or busy urban roads. 

The Haima S7 also ensures a worry-free driving experience thanks to its safety features. It is equipped with an anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability program, hill hold and traction control systems, as well as four units of reverse sensors, two SRS airbags, and a reverse camera. This car breaks the local stigma that vehicles created by Chinese automobile brands are unsafe and unreliable. 

Although the brand Haima is not making that much noise in the Philippine media, or in Metro Manila at least, the Haima S7’s credibility on the road doesn’t need any explanation. Its inclusions for an entry-level compact crossover are reliable and convenient for daily driving in rural areas. Hence, if you are from the province, then this car is worth a try.
